October 7th – 13th
121 anglers caught 414 fish of which 255 were returned.
Best Fish
5lb 9oz Alan Rennocks, Kettering, red diawl bach
5lb 5oz John O’Brien, cats whisker, boat
4lb 10oz Colin Blows, boat
4lb 8oz Alan Mason, Holme, cormorant, boat
4lb 8oz Tony Pointer, Corby
Best Areas
Bank – dam, boat bay, brookside
Boat – anchored off dam, anywhere down middle
Best Patterns
white/green or black/green minkie, cats whisker, red diawl bach, red cruncher, black or brown hopper.
A good week for boat anglers with some great catches with many fish between 2 and 4lb.
On some days the bank fishing is good but it is much less consistent than from a boat.
The majority of fish are being taken on or near the surface with no need to fish deeper than 2 foot.
Best method is a floating line with a minkie or pink apps on the point, red diawl bach on middle dropper and a wet black hopper on the top dropper.
