I like a few others still use the original daiwa spectron competition, which I think is a fantastic all-round pole and am dreading the day I have to stop using it.
Most of my fishing is silvers especially on my local club water and I have purchased the daiwa spectron M2, (rated to 12 elastic) which I will use from now until summer. It’s light, stiff and a pleasure to use, and often on ebay for little money as most want carp poles.
I would seriously recommend this pole to anyone who fishes silvers.

Spooky,as i have the same 2 poles.Used the m2 sunday and had 50 plus pound of carp on it.Not using the original spectron anymore and willing to let it go for £300.It is 16 mt and comes from the number 5 to the 16 mt section, with pro repairs on the number 5&6 sections. Also a good buy for anyone needing spares.

TF_dunnoMaver Elite E carp or Elite Allround with match top5s in it.
Strong stiff and light and cheap on the pocket. Theres quite a few of us here in Ireland who have ditched top range poles for these.

TF_PrawnkingI still use my original Spectron particularly on the canals and venues such as the river Weaver fishing for silver fish 2 to 8 elastic range. Despite the fact its 13 years old its still in good nick and I have prolonged the life by fitting Trevor Jeans PTFE bushes on all sections. I have been asked to sell it loads of times and despite having a Tournament and Air will still keep using it on the right venues as its still a great tool.

TF_NathanWatsonI use my old tournament s but, everyone who says i never have a bad word to say about daiwa, take note, i would not buy a new daiwa pole to fish for silvers as with regular fast shipping, the joints come apart too much!!!

AnonymousIt really is a nightmare. I have had just 3 poles in the last 30 years (including a DAM Mactron which was spot on) and really have to get another one soon but am finding it difficult just finding somewhere to compare what is on offer.
Back in the day I would go to the NEC but that option is not available anymore. -

TF_slappyI know what ya saying about the dam pole pal!
This is my 2nd one, which got mint last year which I was very lucky to find!!
My 1st one I had for years and did me proud!
I have lots of spares and did have 2 more tectrons but sold them on!
I ve even won few matches with 80Ib or so using the mactron 😀I have 11m worth of a tectron I use just for rivers fising to hand and its spot on!!!!
What is wrong with the mactron???
There is futron on ebay now but I never felt them as good as other models to me 🙁
