FISHING REPORT – WEEK ENDING 8/12/13

Last week 59 rods caught 221 fish for an average of 3.74.

Cocks Close has been in very good form this week with both boat and bank anglers catching plenty of fish.

The biggest rainbow of the week was a 9lb rainbow caught by Dave McSheffrey of Birmingham who was fishing from a boat on Cocks Close and he took it on a white Lure. Dave Bratby of Birmingham fished catch and release from the bank of Cocks Close and he caught eight fish to over 8lb using a small Damsel Nymph fished on a floating line. Alex Kerr of Nuneaton fished from a boat on Cocks Close taking a five fish limit to 3½lb and returned another six fish which all fell to a Cats Whisker Lure. Ian Nelson of Solihull fished the Great Pool and caught seven fish to over 5lb using a small green Pheasant Tail Nymph fished on a floating line.

The hotspots on Cocks Close have been the high bank, the old boat jetty corner and the lodge ends of the wires bank. On the members’ waters, Great Pool has fished the best with the fish showing along the boat jetty side.

Fly patterns such as Damsel Nymphs, Cats Whiskers, black Tadpoles, Minkies and long tailed Bloodworm have been working best.
