TF_carpa22ParticipantAnybody upgraded from the Airity (silver one) to the Airity x ,is there a great deal of difference. performance wise, strength, rigidify etc.

TF_Tim_DThese pole threads are getting boring, which pole’s best etc etc etc
Go to a tackle shop and have a wiggle for yourself, or better still try it out on the bank. One persons opinion on a pole will always be different to the next person.

I haven’t used either but really, how different can it be??? 5% lighter/stiffer tops. I bet the difference is hardly noticeable.

TF_macca63It’s becoming increasingly obvious from the number of these ‘pole’ threads that some individuals appear to be influenced by what others use or say rather than making the decision for themselves. I personally don’t give a monkeys chuff what someone elses opinion is on a product but make my own mind up

There should be a “like” button.

TF_fishcatcher4Wow bet carpa22 cant wait to start another thread after the replies and insults he is getting for asking a question about poles on a fishing forum. The next time somebody asks why there isn’t many new threads being started on here i think you will know why.He is just asking for opinions on 2 different poles i thought this was the whole point of a forum,i am sure he will make his own mind up.I haven’t used either pole so i cant help you carpa22.

The same questions keep popping up time and time again and frankly it’s making these forums boring. Use your local fishing shop and get the product in your hands, that’s the only was to find out these things.

Have you ever thought that some people haven’t got a local tackle shop so might need a bit of advice before they make the journey to go and have a look themselves. It’s been a while now since both the poles this fella is talking about have been out so more people will have used them and can give their opinions as well.My main point is no one is going to dash to start new threads when they just get insulted and called boring. If you are bored by certain questions then don’t read them. The whole idea of a forum is to ask peoples opinions, when people stop asking, there wont be a forum.

Interesting thought that people are being influenced by what other anglers who are actual owners say rather than editorials or ‘some’ sponsored anglers or marketing. 🙂
I see no issue with asking other owners for their views, I would still ideally want to try on the bank but at least would know I have some more independent feedback from people who have used the product for more than a few hours, clearly you have to take into account some will rave about A B C to support their choose of pole. That said I take some comfort from the ‘real’ feedback that portrays some of the shortcomings that all products seem to have as you then can make your own more informed decision.

Indeed have thought about that. When you’re forking out the best part of £2k on a pole, then surely you’d want to go out of your way to see first hand how a pole feels, not go on what Joe Bloggs says. That’s my opinion anyway.

That can be a very expensive way to learn! 🙁

TF_craigmDaiwa say :- Our design team have refined this masterpiece, enhancing its feel and performance at the longer lengths thanks to an uplift in the ‘hoop’ strength in key areas. Using Super MSG and ultra high grade carbons the Airity delivers amazing balance, feel and power.
This has been assisted further by the strategic use of X45 construction on key handling areas creating ‘anti compression’ zones allowing for confident handling on high catch rate waters.
The rep said :- They have strengthened the No5 and especially the No6 as they always break in the same place and it was the weak point on the pole, but the rest of the pole is basically the same.

TF_NathanWatsonSo the air still has a weak no. 6!?
-
23/12/2013 at 5:30 pm #170103
TF_craigmNot sure Nathan, maybe they have altered the Airity X sections to be the same as the Air ?? I have mates who own both and they are both very nice, in my opinion the Air isn’t worth the extra £1000. The new Airity feels slightly stiffer than my old black Airity’s did – but I suppose that will be because of the newer weave and strengthening. I’ll be sticking with my Colmic x5000’s for now though – I cannot afford to spend £3000 on a new pole as the divorce would cost much, much more.
-
23/12/2013 at 5:45 pm #170105
TF_mart4666Nathan.just go and get an Air. Ya know ya want one. The air sections are a lot stronger than the x45airity but the airity is similar stiffness up to
14.5 possibly 16m. And i think the air is worth the xtra and it aint a grand. More like £700 if that.
And craig it wouldnt be a divorce it would be a funeral and yr lass would be paying .lol -

TF_craigmYou’re right the Mart, I promised that I would keep the Z9 for 3 years but didn’t, then I promised I’d keep the M1 for 3 years but didn’t. Now I have the Colmics – if I change them it will probably take them 3 years to find all the body parts. ha ha

Being an Airity owner and the nearest stockist best part of an hours drive,I was quite interested to see the replies to this question, but as you’ve (Modded) the thread up I guess I’ll have to wait a while!!!
Why don’t you start a thread that may be of interest if your bored of pole talk?
Happy Xmas. -

TF_Terrence223 pages and there’s only 3 proper answers. Yes these pole threads do sometimes become a bit tedious but this is an open angling forum and if people can’t be bothered to post a responsible answer to a genuine question then don’t leave a comment end of!
All I can answer is what I’ve heard from the Daiwa rep. The poles are effectively the same but have a strengthened 5 and 6 as these sections are the main ones that break!

TF_Tim_DGlebe1, I don’t think it’s much of a secret, the new airity is a slight improvement on the old one. I bet some people wouldn’t notice a difference

TF_Fred DavisA great thread I can quite understand the reason for asking the difference as these days a lot of tackle shops don’t have a pole alley and unless you live within easy reach of a mega store you have no chance of viewing these poles until they start appearing on the bank.

In one of your earlier posts you said you hadn’t used either pole but would guess there isn’t much difference so why comment on this thread. You don’t seem to be getting the point that others besides me are making so i am giving up on this one as the only thing you have brought to this thread is negative.

TF_dirkdigglerSlightly off topic here, I have a Pro X having had a Pro for a good few years and I have to say apart from the paint finish it’s the same pole.
And the paint finish isn’t all it’s cracked up to be either when it’s been raining and drying a bit i’m not sure it’s even better at all.
If the Airity vs Airity X is the same sort of deal I wouldn’t bother. -

TF_Tim_DYou’re right I haven’t used either. The point I’m getting at is that the difference between these two poles is minimal, that I’m sure. Next year I’ll look forward to the air vs air x thread.

How do you know what the difference between the 2 poles is when you have used neither could it be you read it on a fishing forum.

TF_macca63I wasn’t making a personal attack on anyone far from it, the point I was trying to make earlier is from reading a large number of pole orientated threads some people seem more bothered about what others think about what they are seen to be using rather than thinking for themselves. I’ve heard it myself ‘so and so uses such and such a pole so they must be the best’ and base a decision on that. If I was buying a new pole I would do my homework and try a few out.
It amazes me how some people suddenly become unhappy with their flagship pole when something ‘better’ or a newer upgraded version is released. I bet if you removed all the branding from poles and they all had the same finish a lot of people would be hard pressed to find the difference between the one they are using and the latest ‘upgraded’ model.

I don’t know what the difference is, only going on what I’ve heard and my experience from the last 20 years of companies “rebranding” their products.

TF_SluicerDaiwa have changed the finish on the sections of the new Airity (the X45 – not the X). It’s reported to make the sections more rigid and less susceptible to compression damage.
That, as I had it explained to me from a retailer who visited the most recent Daiwa presentation, is the most significant difference. Having felt the silver sections on a new X45, I can confirm they feel more solid than the previous version of the Airity and the coating is noticeable.
In this case, I don’t think it’s simply a case of new graphics and a new name being used to hike the price. That said, I won’t be buying one – unless it’s a pristine secondhand example – many years from now.

TF_KennybHi Guy’s
This is my first post but a regular reader of the site.
I have only earlier this year switched to commercial venues after most of life canal fishing and the past five years long range tip fishing. I still own and use the Abu Suveran at 16 meters which in its time was a superb canal/silverfish pole and have encountered no problems fishing for F1’s on snake lakes in the North West however I have realised that I need to upgrade to a stronger pole when targeting fish in the 5 to 8 pound size . I currently fish three times a week and when not fishing I enjoy watching match anglers, what I have certainly noticed that at the venues I visit mainly Partridge, Blundells and Sycamore the most popular pole by a country mile is the Airity both the black and the silver versions probably closely followed by the Tournament. Both of my fishing buddies use the black Airity and the pole feels supurb. I have never owned a Diawa pole but my next pole purchase will be definitely be made by Diawa I have never heard anyone criticize them. As anglers we should be looking at what your top local unsponsored anglers are using and also how often they are out on the bank with them.
Keep posting
Keep smiling
Kennyb
