Have a look at the Maver Competion rollers, they’ll do everything you want them to do and you see loads on the bank. You can get the XL version for about £50 if you shop around.

I went into my local angling centre and tested every set they had on the shelves including Matrix,Preston.MAP,Dinsmore. I wanted to see how long it took to set them up as some seemed a little fiddly and thought about cold hands in winter. I settled for the Maver roller and having used them for 6 months now I am not disappointed. You can also put two rollers into one of their carrying bags. I also noticed that they seem to be the popular choice on the fishery’s I visit.

Hangman, a bit of honest feedback on the Matrix dual roller to consider.
                – They are very good with the ground spikes, you won’t get a lower roller other than your holdall!!
                – They are very good and stable at the medium and high settings on the legs (triple extending).
                – I do however find the splay on the legs is not very wide on the lowest leg setting and its prone to topple backwards if you hit the roller when shipping back if you are unable to push the legs into the ground. Its very rare I use the lowest setting so suits me as the groundspike and high settings are used most and both are very stable imo.
                – Could just be me but when pushing into the ground if you push it too hard the rollers seem to lock up slightly as the legs splay (minor really and you get used to not over doing it)
                – Finally its solidly made, leg clamps are great, quick and easy to use even when cold.
                – Roller padding is very good including the uprights and they fold away very quickley and easily. Doesn’t make my Daiwa pole come apart either!!!

All told a very good and versatile roller on all but the lowest leg setting but not the cheapest.

I haven’t used one but I have heard lots of very very good feedback about the MAP flatbed with the slight V, seems a great concept and would consider if I was replacing the Matrix especially now they do a twin roller version.
