A half frozen lake greeted the 17 anglers who turned out for round 1 of the Sherwood winter league but thanks to the help of the fishery staff all the pegs were fishable for the start of the match.
Ivor Birkin made no mistakes on end peg 26 to romp home with an 8-11 net of ide perch and skimmers, Ian Boyd claimed 2nd spot from peg 18 with 6-0 of chunky perch on pole and maggot and Nick Oakley completed the main frame thanks to a late run of roach in the last hour to finish with 4-05.
