AnonymousI think those who are not subscribers to hydro and prefer to pay less would be wise to look at the Nick Gilbert elastics. Great price and look very similiar to Vespe and Drennan elastics.

TF_Fred DavisI have purchased the tackle nets yellow but as I have two tops with brand new white hydro in them I haven’t tried the yellow yet, got it in my storage elastics for when it’s needed, what I have in the kits is black, green, blue and orange all very good, what I also have to go into some more kits is the red, teal and yellow, In fact just prior to when I first heard about tackle nets hollow I purchased two lots of white hydro just a couple of days before! needless to say on buying tackle nets hollow and trying it out I am gutted at wasting my money, I presume that the yellow is going to be as good as the rest, looks good stretch is spot on however there’s nothing like putting it in a top kit and using it, I have 5 big bore kits 4 power kits and a stack of match kits however they all have virtually new elastic in them, I am tempted to buy another 3 big bore kits as Ian’s is doing three bbk kits for £145 as I am phasing my power kits out apart from edge work.
Right just compared the two on first sight I thought the white hydro was thicker but actually there is no difference in diameter when viewed really close both in non stretch mode, when stretched both elastics stretched the exact same amount per a nine inch length both bottomed out at the same point, not saying there isn’t a difference there is, a) the colour and b) of coarse the liquid interior which can rectified with a hypodermic needle and some silicone spray!!!! that’s if you want to bother I personally don’t. In fact Ant these tests have just convinced me that I wasted £30 thanks mate!!! 😉 😀 😀 😀 😀 -

TF_AnthonywatersParticipantThanks Fred, there’s been a niche in the market for ages for some cut price hollow elastic I personally think its been a licence for some to print money for over a decade

TF_Nick GilbertMost hollow elastics are pretty much the same apart from one thing. some are manufactured with a white core and some a natural amber.
The difference between these is the white core is very slightly more forgiving, this is more noticeable in the thinner grades.

TF_Fred DavisThe great thing about Nick’s elastic is in that it can be bought at the required length thus saving money, I notice that tacklenets 2 core hollow now charge 75p postage although this is slightly reduced when making multiple purchases it has put the price up as originally postage was free.it is interesting that the white inner core elastic has more stretch in the lower diameters something worth considering when targeting soft mouthed skimmers imo.
Obviously both Tacklenets and Nick are offering quality elastic at a very competitive price something to be applauded. -
