Fishing a first round Super Cup match against a team from a rival fishing forum a week on Saturday (April 5) at Wood Lane fishery, Iver.

Any advice welcome as I fear we are up against some venue experts and we won’t have time to practice!!!

slow sinking pellet wag to aerator is the killing method, start on normal pellet wag but if it doesn’t work switch to the slow sinking pellet wag this is achieved by wrapping lead wire or additional shots at the base you need it set up so just the weight of the 8mm pellet is enough to sink the float cast out just wait until the float hits bottom or the tip wraps around. Preston dura wags are great for this as you wrap the wire around the float disc, just get soldering wire from B & Q job done

Thanks Fred – I had heard mention of the sinking waggler from other sources! Are there any fish (skimmers) to be caught on the long pole and/or carp down the edge?

if your not able to get one of the pegs where you can cast to the aerator then the pole is an option, but the method is the slow sinking wag , at one time you could ton on the pole with 50% skimmers and 50% carp and also catch down the margin, however this works less and less also is it warm enough yet, set up a pole by all means just in case.
