The Munster Coarse Angling Council hosted the three day St. Patrick’s Day festival last weekend; the first of many festivals held annually on Inniscarra Lake, Coachford, Co.Cork and part of the lead up to the world feeder fishing championships there later this year.

There were 39 anglers competing from across Ireland and the UK. Fishing was mainly for roach on the feeder with weights improving throughout the weekend.
The sections of the reservoir fished were Garden Centre, Graveyard and Concrete and not the new match stretch which is currently under construction ready for the World Feeder Fishing Championships.

Cathal Hughes from Galway produced 16kg on the final day to become the festival winner with 28.700kg. In second place was Will Freeman, Suffolk, England with 27.550kg and in third Julian Kendrick, Edenderry, Co. Offaly with 26.250kg.

Cathal Hughes is an outstanding angler – and think he would be considered for any national team including England – ie the proper float one – not Tom’s picks.

Cathal Hughes is an exceptional angler, and more importantly he is a decent fella who has no air’s and graces about himself. He mixes with everyone and isn’t afraid to help out and advise the less experienced anglers. As is his best mate Philip Jackson. Both are a credit to this sport.

Both are not representing Ireland at this years feeder championships. They didn’t fish the qualifiers. Cathal hasn’t represented Ireland since he won his silver in 2010. Jacko hasn’t fished for Ireland in over 10years.

              What a real shame Dunno,

cant see how Ireland can be called a team if anglers of the calibre of Cathal aren’t involved.
Can you explain why not a bit more?
