TF_staffieIf you owned a fishery what rules would you put on it and why?? Just a topic due to some of the silly rules being placed on some of our local fisheries, starting to get a bit ridiculous to say the least 😡

TF_JohnHBait limits, as over use can seriously damage water quality.
Surface baits, as wild foul can be hooked and its against match rules as you cannot control where feed goes.
Night fishing if your lease does not allow it.
Barbless hooks.
That’s it for me. -

TF_steviedAfter the obvious safety rules my No.1 rule would be “music/sounds to be heard only by the player.”
next rule would be “No hook larger than a 14 and all hooks to be barbless”
“Keepnets to be emptied a 1 o’clock, 6 o’clock”
“No fishing between sunset and sunrise as advertised by the weather forecast.”
“No tin cans to be on the bank, only be taken out when being emptied into a bait-box.”
“No holding fish in a cloth.”
“must be polite and friendly to others around the fishery.”
“My word is final.”
Most importantly, “enjoy yourself!” -

AnonymousNO GARDENING. NO ALTERING THE NATURE OF YOUR PEG. You drew it , you fish it!

TF_missabiteGardening allowed. Saves me bothering to do it.
But then if i owned a fishery all pegs would be equal in they could all fish down the edge and were all clear when fishing over to islands.

TF_Fred DavisIf I owned a fishery the first rule would be NO FISHING, I would put up plenty of signs stating no fishing, keep the dross out 😀

TF_Terrence22Keepnets allowed but must be emptied after 6 hours maximum. No hooks bigger than a 14. No elastic heavier than black hydro or it’s equivalent.

TF_paulnewellCannot see the logic of a size 14 hook limit . A barbless 10 only has a sharp point same as a14 . Or could you be anti bait anglers trying to upset big bait anglers ie. Paste ??

TF_TIDALWAVE1If i owned a fishery.there would be an 8 pint bait limit for both match and pleasure anglers.
no matches longer than 5 hours.
no carp bigger than 5lb in the match lakes.
carp over 10lb in the pleasure and specimen lakes, with rules regarding sensible but practical minimum reel lines, and proper tackle to be used.for fish welfare and safety to other anglers.
qualified angling coaches to patrol the fishery and help younger anglers, who may be struggling to catch,or need advice regarding tactics and feeding.
clean and working toilets for both male and female anglers.
24 hour cctv around the whole complex. -

TF_geepsterParticipantPole limit, 14.5m, which does not get you to the island.
Bait limit, checked, same for everyone.
No gardening.
No elastics over 16 rating.
100lb net limit.
No pulla kits.
That’s it. -

TF_paulnewellStaffie has raised an issue . Silly bans. ? How difficult to get an even view . Remember how good cat food was for carp at whiteacres .??? Some sighted the smell was the problem etc. Luncheon meat shallow at Woodland View and other venues . Mussels at Moorlands won a few bob for an ageing matchman. Gallons of maggots at Boldings were outlawed . Most bans instigated by sour grapes and backstabbing by a few getting in the mind of the owner whose priority is bums on seats . Critically scientific evidence of damage to water quality is almost never produced . Go elsewhere and get away from any venue that stops being enjoyable . Mostly I now fish rivers and only occasionally visit commercials . 🙂

TF_paulnewellAbout 1998. A young up and coming open minded , No bait ban venue allowed floating bread .!!! What bloody enormous fun . Specialy when they first stocked Fairground sized f1s. Steve Edwards caught 79 lbs off the top and a tiddler snatcher had 79lbs 8oz next peg . !!! As the venue became more popular with visiting anglers theories of right and wrong we’re put to the owner whose only belief in democracy and FairPlay hinged around his wallet . Sadly all manner of petty rules were imposed never with any consultation and even this once wonderfully radical fishery mirrored many others . Later leaving the place and enjoying my fishing once more I think what luck . IT was just the push I needed . Thanks very very much ! 🙂

TF_gis9I think a lot of pools have different rules some to give people a advantage and some that don’t !! Even if you keep to rules people still bend them ,cheats ,and if you sort a method people want to change rules so you can’t win .

TF_paulnewellBang on , then when you’re gone no one policies the ban and some cheats get left alone . Specialy if they only win a bit ! ? Let them get on with it and find new pastures !

TF_staffieThe problem with a lot of the fisheries around my area are the rules arnt very clear. ie 2 different sets of rules for pleasure anglers and another set of rules for open match anglers. One of the rules for open match anglers is NO TAPPING OR CUPPING IN WATER but this rule doesnt seam to apply to the pleasure (fishery) rules?? If your club is booked on the fishery then what rules apply to you? i would pressume the open match rules but then it doesnt say your not allowed to SLAP so if you do that are you breaking rules?? As TAPPING and SLAPPING are 2 different techniques??

TF_geepsterParticipantGazer. Simple, because if you allow pulla kits you might as well not have a maximum elastic as you can over bully fish anyway.
