Norfolk Tackle Shop Manager, Daniel Brydon books his ticket to the Fish ‘O’ Mania grand final
A cool blustery day greeted the 150 anglers in this latest qualifying Fish ‘ O’ Mania round of 2014 at Monk Lakes in Kent, on 7th May, but it didn’t deter the fish from feeding.

There were some very big fish caught especially on Bridges Lake, with the biggest weighing 22 lbs caught by Steve Clark, and another of 21 lb 4 oz by Jamie McGuire, neither of these were enough to put there captors in the money. There were 10 weights over 100 lbs spread over five of the six lakes used, with only one 10 peg section being won with less than 66 lbs .

First place and qualifier for the grand final on 12th July went to Norfolk tackle shop manager Daniel Brydon fishing for Saxmundham Angling Centre. Daniel drew Bridges Peg 2 where he fished the method feeder and baited with dead red maggots to record a superb 218 lbs. Daniel said this was the first time he recorded 200 lbs in a match.

Second place fell to Adrian Hull from Lutterworth. Adrian fishing under the Fosters of Birmingham banner drew peg 19 on Puma Lake where he also fished the method feeder to weigh in 129 lbs. From peg 60 on lake 2 in third place was Duxford angler Richard Richman. Richard fished shallow to land carp to 15 lbs in his 126 lb 6 oz net.

In fourth place Lee Farmer from Nuneaton weighed in 122 lbs from peg 45 on Lake 2 where he took carp to 8 lb fishing the method feeder along the bank margins. Mark Hayes from London finished in fifth place with 114 lbs 20 oz from peg 135 on lake 3 and in sixth place was John ‘Lasher’ Larraman weighing in with 112 lbs 8 oz. on Bridges 23.

The action hots up on Saturday 10th May with another finalist place up for grabs at The Oaks, Sessay, Thirsk.
