Chub bag wins Evesham Individual Championship
Garbolino, and ABC Baits backed ace Lee Edwards has won the Evesham Individual Championship, with a 15-12-0 net of chub. Drawn on peg 35, the River Avon’s confluence with the River Isbourne, Lee included fish to 2lb 8oz in his net.
He told Match Fishing: “I am over the moon to win an event as prestigious as this. I know that the peg has some form for chub, and so set my stall out to target them on waggler tactics. I fished between 18 inches, and three feet deep and included plenty of small dace and bleak, as well as some good quality perch and chub in my catch.”
Runner up, Evesham Bait Box sponsored Geoff Spiers banked one of Evesham’s famous barbel, as well as some smaller perch for his 8-2-0 net. Drawn on peg 6 on the Crown Meadow, Jeff pole-fished flat float and lobworm, over a bed of chopped worm and caster for his weight.
In third place was Drennan’s Simon Willsmore, who caught a tidy net of roach on bloodworm tactics from peg 70. Simon fished two lines, one at 11m and another at 13m, rotating between the two to keep fish coming.
Result:
1 Lee Edwards (ABC Baits/ Garbolino) 15-12-0 (peg 35)
2 Jeff Spiers (Evesham Bait Box) 8-2-0 (peg 6)
