FISHING REPORT – WEEK ENDING 16/11/14
Last week 73 rods caught 180 fish for an average of 2.46 fish per rod.
A bit of a mixed week in terms of fishing which was mainly due to the very changeable weather conditions throughout the week with wet and windy conditions giving way to flat calm and high pressure at the weekend.
The biggest fish was an 8lb 14oz rainbow caught by Graham Hewitt of Solihull who was fishing from a boat on Park Meadow pool and this was the best of a four fish catch and they all came to a Cats Whisker Lure. Roger Smith of Atherstone fished from a boat on Cocks Close and caught an 8lb 8oz rainbow which again fell to a Cats Whisker Lure. Mr Arnold of London had an 8lb 2oz rainbow on a Cats Whisker fished on a sinking line from a boat on Cocks Close. Ade Cooper of Maxstoke fished the bank of Cocks Close and caught five fish to 7lb on his own tied Pea Head Lure fishing on a floating line.
On the members’ water Great Pool, regular visitor Nick Howarth of Nuneaton caught six fish to 7lb using Buzzers fished on a floating line.
The best patterns have been Cats Whisker, Damsel Nymph, orange Fritz Lure, black Tadpoles, Bloodworm, black Buzzer and Montana Nymph.
The best areas have been the high bank and around the middle willows on Cocks Close, the shallow water and far side of Great Pool and the far side of Park Meadow from the boat jetty.
