FISHING REPORT – WEEK ENDING 18/1/15

Last week 32 rods caught 161 fish for an average of 5. 03 fish per rod.

For those that fished in difficult conditions for most of the week, the sport on offer has been very good. There were lots of fish in the 4 – 7lb bracket caught along with the odd bigger fish.

The biggest fish of the week was an 8lb rainbow caught by venue regular Rod Lacey of Nuneaton who was fishing from a boat on Cocks Close and he tempted it with a Diawl Bach Nymph fished on a floating line. Mr M Hanlon of Rugby fished from a boat on Cocks Close and caught and released eight fish to 7½lb using Cats Whiskers on a sinking line.

On the members’ water, Great Pool, Stan Bonas of Birmingham caught five fish to 5lb on the Cats Whisker Lure fished on a sinking line.

Top tactics have been to fish white or black Lures on a very long leader with an intermediate or sinking line, but successful flies have been Cats Whiskers, Minkies, black Tadpoles, big Damsels and Appetizers.
