Hi all, been looking to get some new winter gear, the Preston DF 20 stuff looks good and might do the job, (like to be warmish), also the Halkon Hunt gear looks very good but is it worth the extra??, all your thoughts please.

Preston great in the extreme rain but in the cold need a few layers underneath as not very thick

                Hi Gixer
I had used a Halkon Hunt suit and windstopper for around 15 plus years and could not fault the quality and the weatherproof . I have always fished 52 weeks per year and go out on average twice per week so eventually I literally wore it out. So last winter I sent for the Halkon Hunt measurement/colour chart and costed a new suit and windstopper approx. cost £650. Around the same time the DF 20 had been launched and a number of my mates had bought themselves the full suit including bib and brace around £175 with a decent fleece another £50. So I decided to save myself about £400 and bought the Preston gear. Twelve months on I cannot fault the Preston suit I find it warmer than my Halkon Hunt gear as it is thicker and definitely windproof with the fleece very warm.
The one down side to my Preston gear my kids and grandkids like to buy me fishing gear for Xmas and birthdays so I tell them to buy me polo t shirts etc as I know they will get worn. Everything they have bought me including the black hooded top as faded and looks shoddy obviously not needed to wash the DF20. The Preston clothing range of t shirts, polos etc is expensive and not worth the money however the DF 20 is well worth the money in comparison to Halkon Hunt.

Enough said KennyB looks like a good endorsement there.

Get yourself some ski clothing from Sport Direct. Half the price of even the cheaper fishing stuff and much warmer.
