Not news this as such as it was caught a few years ago… but I’m guessing also not common knowledge.
This giant 62cm long Rudd (Scardinius erythrophthalmus) of 3.6kg (8lb) was caught by Darko Ferenčić and smashed the old fabulous world record of 3,01 kg from the Austrian Danube River.
The sensational fish was caught in Lake Vrana on Cres Island, Croatia on 17 June 2008. Four ichthyologists of the University of Zagreb examined the fish and confirmed it as a pure Rudd. After being measured and weighed, the fish was preserved as a mounted trophy. A detailed report was published in the “Journal of Applied Ichthyology”.
