Birmingham rod Ian Bullock won this Evesham Championship qualifier, with 13-8-0 from peg 5. After an uneventful four hours and 45 minutes, Ian was looking for a bonus barbel, and with 15 minutes of the match to go, his gamble paid off, as his halibut pellet hookbait was intercepted by a 12lb whisker!
Runner up on the day, Mark Newman also had a barbel to thank for his 12-3-0 weight from peg nine. The Worcester rod caught his lump on maggot feeder tactics.
In third place, and also qualifying for the final from peg 30, was Matryn Heaven. Martyn also had a barbel to thank for his weight.
