MOLANDS It is starting to get more autumnal and catches are slowing now with the water starting to clear. Weights to over 120lb have been caught but things are a little patchier than of late. Maggot, caster and expander pellet with frugal feeding is the key for the better bags fishing at 4 – 8 metres on the pole for F1’s and skimmers. Carp are still being caught on the bomb and pellet or pellet waggler with fish to double figures but the average is around the 5lb – 7lb mark. Best pegs are 2, 10 – 15, 19, 27, 33, 42 – 46 and 54 – 57.
GEARYS Bomb with 8mm pellet is accounting for the better catches of carp with fish to 16lb coming to this in matches and weights to 80lb being caught, The silver fish are going better with lots of skimmers from 8oz – 2lb, roach, crucians and the odd tench coming to maggot, caster or expander pellet fished over ground bait. The top pegs are 1,
9 – 12, 16, 19, 27, 31 and 36.LITTLE GEARYS Like all of the pools the water is clearing and making it a little more difficult, that said, Little Gearys still offers decent and consistent sport with most pegs providing good nets. Maggot and caster fished at 13 metres on the deck but going shallow as well is the top tactic. Pellet feeder to the island is also worth a try. Top pegs are 3, 7, 10 – 13, 21 and 25 – 29.
WILLOW F1’s and carp are being caught on a feeder fished tight up to the island with meat or pellet the best bait. The biggest carp are coming down the margins with corn, pellet or worm catching fish to double figures fishing tight to the bank or up to any feature. Top pegs are 1, 5, 6, 8 and 10.
SIBLINGS A Match weights to over 60lb but the fishing has been a little patchy with pegs 1 – 5 and 19 – 21 producing the most consistent sport. Carp, F1’s and skimmers have been providing the bulk of the catches with soft pellet or meat over micros the best approach.
SIBLINGS B A little harder this week but decent nets are still being caught mainly small F1’s from 8oz – 1lb but a few bigger carp and tench are boosting catches. Pellet, worm or meat fished on the pole to the far side has worked best.
ANNIVERSARIES Probably the most consistent pool this week with lots of F1’s being caught from all around the pool. Pole and expander pellet fished over micros or sloppy ground bait has been the best tactic with caster or corn also worth a try.
