Daiwa Gordon League ace Ian Shepherd continued his remarkable run of form on the River Avon this summer, winning Saturday’s match with an 8-6-0 net from peg one. In total, of the matches that he has fished, Ian has won one, framed in a further five and picked up section money in two. Of the eight matches he has fished, he has only not picked up money once – a consistent tally by anyone’s standards! Once again, Ian caught on his trademark hemp approach.
Runner up, Tony Davis, had a great start on the feeder, banking several good perch in the early part of the match, before bites dried up. He then moved on to a whip swim fed with groundbait, and caught some dumpy perch and gudgeon to finish with 7-0-0.
Third placed Martin Foster included some chunky perch and chublets in his 6-12-0 net. Drawn on peg 52, Martin caught on waggler and flatfloat tactics with maggots.
