I’m wondering if someone out there can help, I’ve come back to fishing after many years away and I’m having problems with my line, I’m float fishing my local commercial lake, where I’ve caught carp up to 14lb,
The trouble I’m having is that once I’ve played and landed the fish, my line is all twisted up to the point of, pulling a load off and setting up again, I’ve tried old line, new line, stronger line, weaker line, nothing I do helps, I know it’s something I’m doing wrong but I can’t work it out.
Can anyone point me in the right direction please as thinking of going again tomorrow but this is putting me off.
        Many thanks in advance Matt.

A quick question – is the slipping clutch set so that it is giving line when you are reeling in? If you reel in whilst the line is going out via the drag or clutch then you will quickly get a lot of line twist. If so try tightening the drag.

Thank you for that, I’m not sure I’m not doing that so will tighten up a little tomorrow and make sure. Many thanks

                HI,

No need to tighten up – just don’t reel in if a fish is taking out line.
