It makes them heavier so you can catapult them further when fishing the pellet waggler and it also crates an attractive oil slick on the surface.
Most people use a fishy flavour type oil but I guess sunflower oil would have the same effect.

So a fishery sells its own pellets on the basis that the owner knows what is going into his lake. As far as I know no fishery will sell you high oil pellets like halibuts. Many too ban meat on the grounds of water quality related to fat content. Now anglers are adding oil???
I fear yet more bans and ever longer lists of rules, what are we playing at?

I was thinking along those lines as well John.
If it was my lake, I would not allow liquid oil additives.
Dependant on the size of a water, it would not take long for a small water to have a film across it if a lot of oil soaked pellet was thrown at it.
What sort of oils are people using?

                  Hemp oil??

What about all the dips, glugs, goo, pellet particle soaks and stick mixes?

Think I could cope with the odd hook pellet soaked but the thought of liberal doses of oil on pellets being fed and the slicks they give off??
                    Not sure I like that.
