Wrap your feeder in speed mesh then you know the bait is intact until it reaches the bottom, can’t imagine it’s hectic fishing in that depth? 😮

Vicci , have you thought about using the plastic worm feeders without any holes in them, you should be able to change the lead weight from the nisa flyers onto the worm feeders.

For what it’s worth I personally use a cage feeder in all depths. If the groundbait mix is right you can use one no problem. I tend to use a tube if feeding dead mag/worm or if I want a really light mix to reach the bottom. Not saying I’m right but nowt wrong with a cage in deep water IMO.

You know, PVA mesh, wrap your metal feeder in it, once it’s on the bottom it will dissolve and allow the feeder to disperse the bait on the bottom naturally. I think that’s what I would do in your situation to give me confidence the feed stays in the feeder until it’s on the deck 🙂

I don’t ever use a cage feeder just use a plastic one with no holes in it that way you get the feeder to raise up off the bottom quicker so cuts out chances of it getting snagged up

I recently fished a series of “tip” matches with two members of the England Feeder team and was fascinated to hear their tales of how they won last years World Championships” . One of the key elements of their success was finding feeding skimmers. This they did this successfully by finding that they fed in water the depths of a ten count. However a ten second count to me might be a 13 second count to others depending on how fast you count. So they informed me that they were all asked to count to 10 and were timed on a stop watch some took 9 seconds some took 13. So in order to ensure some consistency they firstly all decided to use a Guru square 1oz bomb. They then chose a swim with a ten second drop ,then another member of the team cast a slider over the same mark till they just touched bottom. They then measured the exact depth and from those measurements they could accurately state the distance the bomb fell through the water. The rest they say is history. Some of the team counted a 13 second count others counted a 9 depending on how fast or slow they counted to 10.
Now that in my book sets these anglers apart from mere angling mortals like ourselves. Would you and a couple of mates got to the same trouble ?

Have you tried the Tony Burke range of feeders? Designed for fishing Irish waters, lead at one end and no holes in the feeder. Widely used and respected everywhere!
