        REPORT

MOLANDS The warmer weather has put the carp into spawning mode on Molands and most of the pools at the fishery. Carp to double figures and F1’s to 5lb have featured in catches but overall the fishing has been a lot tougher this week. Meat or corn down the margins on method feeder to the island has been the top tactic with match weights to over 60lb best. Top pegs have been 4, 10, 15, 23, 27 – 31, 43 – 48 and 60.

GEARYS Despite the fish starting to spawn the biggest weights have come off Gearys with match catches to 125lb recorded this week. Carp to 20lb have been caught by pleasure anglers and fish to 18lb weighed in during matches. The top tactics have been bomb and pellet or pole fished worm, corn, or caster down the margins. Best pegs were 1, 8, 13, 15 – 21, 27, 31 and 36.

LITTLE GEARYS The most consistent pool with good weights being caught all around. F1’s have provided the bulk of the catches and fish to 6lb are being caught with skimmers, crucian carp and tench showing but in reduced numbers due to the spawning activity. Shallow on the pole or waggler has been the top tactic but fishing down the margins with meat, caster or pellet is also worth a try. Top pegs are 5, 7, 10, 15, 21 – 28.

GRATUITIES With the carp spawning it has been the crucians that have been showing but on Grats with plenty of fish from 12oz – 1¼ lb being caught from all pegs. Caster or soft pellet is the top bait fishing close in or up to 11 metres out

WILLOW Fishing close in down the edges has accounted for the better catches this week feeding micros or ground bait and fishing corn or worm over it. Carp to double figures, tench to 3lb and F1’s to 3lb have been coming to this. Waggler or feeder to the island is also providing good nets.

SIBLINGS A & B Meat fished across to the far side is accounting for the better fish on both pools with carp to 8lb and tench to 4lb coming to this. Lots of small F1’s to be caught on short pole and pellet as well.

ANNIVERSARIES Like most of the pools the fishing has been a little erratic with great sport one day and the next it is difficult. When the F1’s go the fishing is good all round the pool and pleasure anglers have reported catches of over 200 fish in sessions. Pole fished pellet at 9 – 11 metres is the top tactic with the fish sitting in the open water a little more than of late. Best pegs are 2, 6, 15 and 17 – 23.
