FISHING REPORT – WEEK ENDING 6/12/15

Last week saw 52 rods caught 225 fish for an average of 4.33 per rod.

Despite the very high winds and changeable conditions the fishery is in really good form with lots of fish in the 3 – 6lb range and the odd bigger specimen being caught.

The biggest rainbow of the week was a 9lb 14oz fish caught by Ian Reeve of Rugby who was fishing from a boat on Cocks Close and it was the best of an eight fish bag taken on Minkies and Bloodworms. Alan Mann of Solihull fishing catch and release from a boat on Park Meadow caught 11 fish to 5lb 8oz which all fell to a Gold Head Damsel fished on a floating line. Robert White of Lapworth caught eight fish from the bank of Cocks Close including one at 7lb and these fell to Blobs and Daiwl Bach. Jonathan Preston of Solihull fished with his son Jack on a boat on Cocks Close and they caught eight fish to 4lb between them using Cats Whiskers and Damsels on an intermediate line. 12 year Louie Parton took his first trout ever weighing 2lb 14oz from the bank of Cocks Close in very windy conditions.

The best patters are Damsel, Cats Whisker, Bloodworm, black Tadpole, orange Fritz, black Buzzer and Montana Nymph.

The hotspots have been the old boat jetty and the high bank of Cocks Close. On Park Meadow, the far bank from the boat jetty is the most successful area.
