There seems to be a lot of talk about micro pellets not staying on a method feeder or not making It to the bottom on the pellet cone.
So I decided to do a tank test with two types of micro pellet just to see if they broke down to quickly on the pellet cone without any extra binders added.
Guess what I found that if they were compressed really tightly as suggested by at least two high profile anglers they didnt break down very quickly at all.
Ok so a tank test cannot replicate an actual fishing situation exactly but I had often thought In the past that In some case the cone was remaining mostly intact and only broke up completely when the rig was reeled In thus spreading pellets over a wider area.
Of course there are many variables Ie different pellets method of preparation, how hard the cone Is compressed.
Maybe the addition of a small amount of dryish ground bait could be added to assist the breakdown, working on the principal that groundbaits or pastes that are wetter take longer to break down than a dry mix.
Anyone got any ideas or opinions on this subject ?

I use PV1 binder, teaspoon full per lightly dampened micros.

Good idea but It may depend on what volume of pellets you are adding a teaspoon of PVI to 🙂

Level teaspoon to 2 pints of micro, anymore and it makes them too sticky, if that makes sense.

I find a good squirt of Cell does the job once you have prepped your micros.

Haha! I’ve just seen and read this post again and my comment. Seems I got that all round the wrong way.
The only thing I have heard of which a friend told me about was milk powder, he seemed to think that the micros broke down plus also giving off an attractive cloud.
The only way I suppose is to tank test again or margin test.

                    Milk powder sounds good 🙂
