TF_punchcrumbWent Into my local tackle shop to buy a bag of the new ringers micro pellets for fishing on the cone, I particularly wanted the new Ringers as being new on the market I would not be paying top dollar for a bag of pellets that had been sitting on the tackle shop shelf for who knows how long as much as any other reason.
Sadly they didnt have the new Ringers micros In stock so after spending some time checking out what was on offer I spotted some Bait-tec super G pellets In 3mm size.
According to the bull $%&* these pellets are surposed to be the rolls royce of pellets and having not seen anything else that I fancied decided despite the very steep asking price to give them a go.
On arriving home I noticed that these pellets have a best before date on the bag, imagine my dismay when I read the best before date was February 2015,bag was unopened so they will be going back to the shop ASAP.
My local shop always has shelves crammed with pellets and groundbait of almost every make and variety, I am always wary of buying bags that could have been sitting there for a year or two especialy fish meal pellets that can go rancid.
Putting a best before date on the bags Is a brilliant idea that all the major pellet and groundbait companys should be using.
How old are those pellets you purchased from your local tackle shop that have been festering In your tackle shed for a year?
Its no wonder so many venues have a fishery only pellets rule so they can monitor the quality of bait being used at there venue, although the majority are taking the p$%& with what they charge for the privilege.
Its a lesson learned I wont be buying 1 kg bags of pellets In future unless they have a sensible best before date on the bag, maybe fishery owners should put a best before date on there fishery only pellets now that would be a revelation 🙂 -

TF_Double Blankerrr how many versions of NEW Ringers pellets have we had now?
The first ones were best…. all just a con
How many times do Brands “Discontinue” products that are tried & tested for a new better version…..rarely are they better to any large degree, just more expensive, they just need to keep the punters coming…
Fishery only pellets….don’t even go there…

TF_punchcrumbMy point was If you buy the latest ones they have just brought out they shouldnt have been sitting on the shelf In the shop for a year.
Not sure how many of the mainstream suppliers of 1 kilo bags of pellets actualy put a best before date on the bag. -

TF_CriagH66In all fairness we’re not talking about a Waitrose Salmon Fillet for the family dinner here.
These are the scrapings of any old unusable/unsalable/unfit for human consumption fish and shellfish; heads and bones and all, dried and ground and pelletised. Sold to feed to commercial carp that would happily eat bird sh*t that fell from the sky. i’m sure the manufacturers will claim only the best cod fillet is used in their pellets, yeah, OK. -
