I have more details of the 170lb catch taken at Packington Somers last week.
John Duncan took the massive bag during a Mallory Boys float-only match, fishing 14.5m pole and worm to the island on Peg 16 on Gearys Lake for skimmers and carp to 12lb.
Although it’s the biggest weight ever taken in a match on Geary’s, it won’t count as a record as it was taken in a six-hour event and only five-hour matches count.
The lake record is a 166lb catch weighed in by Wayne Sharman, although Suzy Smith had 169-15-0 last month in a four-hour evening event.
The fishery record stands at 177-15-0, caught by Wayne Carter on Molands Lake.
