TF_GALPSSome of you on here may remember that i had my 1st open match wins this year thanks to the masses of help and advice from some of the members of this site.
Well today my second goal of the season was achieved with my 1st ever 100lb+ match weight.
i came second in the Tuesday open at Lindholme on Bonsai peg 74. My final weight of 114lb 9oz just missing out on top spot who weighed in 119lb.
Thanks to those on the site whos advice has helped me loads over the past 12 months.
Thanks

TF_back shotParticipantWell done Galps, you never forget your first match ton. I also caught my first match ton on the bonsai only four peg from yours on peg 69 138lb.
Not had one in a match ton for a while, but will be going for it at Ranskill saturday mate. I would love to do a ton of silvers and Ranskill is the venue to do it on, my best silver net here is 78lb !!!!
PS the reel i had off you is landing me a few fish.
Regards Dave

TF_CutnutYou’ve done it well done.
How did you feel afterwards, elated, knackered, bewildered, looking forward to doing it again?
I did my first ton+ last year and I can honestly say that at the end of the match I was totally and utterly shot. The last hour I was not sure if I was in heaven or hell, the mind numbing repetition of it was for me the worst of it.
Maybe because they were all small carp mostly averaging 10oz added to the eventual feeling of WHY am I doing this.
The brown envelope helped to pick me up a bit but it all seemed such an anti-climax.
I personally think in a few years as the carp grow that such weights will be meaningless and that some other measure will need to be brought in to matches and venues to negate the need for multiple keepnets.

TF_GALPSThanks for all the positive comments chaps.
I must admit I was elated at the end as ive been trying to hit the magical ton for ages now.
Now i need to keep my head down and keep working at it as i now it wont be easy maintaining those kind of weights easily.
I must admit that it was a good draw albeit with a strong wind ( those of you that fish Lindholme regularly will know what i mean ).
I fished at 16mtrs all day towards the island on peg 74 into about 2 feet of water as it was another meter or so to get tight in to the island in 12″ of water and there is a 16mtr pole limit.
I fed 4mm meat and hemp through a very small cad pot with 6mm meat on the hook landing 60 fish in total including 2 nice 3lb barbel.
Looking forward to next Tuesdays open again before the Maver pairs a week on Wednesday!
Thanks again
