The District of Easington Open Shore Angling Competition held along the Durham coastline had an entry of 578 anglers.
The 57 anglers weighed in 83 fish, 41 codling, 21 whiting, 19 flounders, 1 coalfish and 1 pouting, for a total of 151.98lb.
Winner was Mick Davison who fished the Green Wall where he landed a cod of 8.40lb. This won him the first prize of £2,000.
Mick also took first prize in the Seaham Open held last November that win brought him £1,000.
Seaham North pier gave Walter Yardley second prize of £1,000 for a cod of 6.07lb.
Third place went to A. Wilkinson who won £500 with a cod of 5.90lb.
Fourth was Chris Dawson with a cod of 5.68lb, which was worth £250 to him.
Lady winner was Shirley Newton, junior winner was J. Coussons and the disabled prize went to George Heron.
Sea conditions were far from ideal with a South Easterly wind making the sea a bit too rough for good and safe shore angling.
