Sacking TThe thing that im hung upon between the two is the spares packages with each, G8 has 4 top kits & G796 Has 8.

TF_baitchefParticipantYou can’t go wrong with the G8, actually usable at 16m. Spare kits have to be accounted for in the over all cost of a pole, therefor do you honestly believe you are getting a £1000.00 pound pole with the 796 & all those spares? Best thing to do is to actually compare them side by side. I have had a go with both of them & I prefer the G8.

TF_piperpilotHaving had both!!! the above poles I would personally go for the Garbolino Carp Match another pole that I’ve had and one that’s IMO far better then the G796,

TF_kev34Ron is spot on the carp match is better than the g796 (very heavy at 16m and bendy)..
Lot of lads on here compare the carp match to the SUPERLEGION which speaks volumes

CleggyParticipantHi Sacking T
The price of the G8 will remain the same for 2008. Your main problem will be finding a shop that has one in stock!! Drop me a mail when your ready as we generally do have them in I know we have them in at the moment.

TF_mart4666just reading through this thread and wondering if two poles which should be identical (ie the same model) could vary in stiffness.?????
i ask this as i used to havea G796 AS A SPARE FOR A G995 AND I THOUGHT FOR THE MONEY it was a crackin pole comparing favourably with a 995 up to 14.5m. went a bit at 16 but hey its a sub £1000 pole?
now a lot of people seem to rate the match carp . had a go with my mates and nowhere near as stiff as the G796 i had.
could there be variations in the same pole. I WONDER?????
since bought a tournie and have to say over the moon with it so think the G8 WILL be an excellent sub£1000 pole. as for the spares buy the generic T3Mk kits theyre £49 rrp and i cant tell the difference between them and £99 tournie tops apart from the red triangle -
