Advice on Rods and Reels?

I have been a keen carp angler for many years. I took 2 years out of it for various reasons. I have now come back to it and want to get myself a decent effective reasonably priced set up. Please help me out with what you think will be suitable???

Not a carp angler, but before you buy, you will need to think of the waters that you are going to be fishing, size of the fish in those waters etc, as it is pointless going and getting a 3lb 12ft beast of a rod, if the venues you will be fishing are small, likewise, no good going smaller if venues are large. I would suggest having a walk round your local venues and talk to tackle dealers, as i am sure they would help(just lie and say you will be buying all kit from them, they will be more helpful then, once you know what you need, have a look in the magazines for ads from shops, and search around, as there are plenty of bargains, if you spend a little time looking.
Why not go for Barbel, so much nicer than carp……lol

Thanks for that sounds like a good plan. I was going to go with 2.5lb as this is my size atm and it seems to work well with the variety of fishing i do. I am lost for makes though!!!!!lol at barbel comment.cheeky sod!

biggest step forward in recent years has been the budget-mid price range of gear. get a couple of magazines and have a look through, always good tho are shimano (hyperloop etc) nash (hooligan). or have a look at the TFgear stuff. a pupil of mne got a 2.5tc rod for about £60 and got a free bait runner style reel. deals are out there.
