TF_kookie3011I will be switching from a electric trolley to a either Preston Barrow or the matrix barrow. I own a Matrix box and one of the Matrix trolley comes with a trolley designed for it with a single tubed tyre and a cavity in the middle to carry a bait bucket , there second version is the a two wheeled variety and then you have the preston. I could find no reviews from customers on the single wheel Matrix.
Any help will be appreciated and i wish to have all my equpipment on the trolley without carrying.
Preston 2 or 4 wheels ? or the Matrix -pro and cons
Thanks -

TF_dirkdigglerIf you are talking about the Matrix trolley that has two wheels and pivots in the middle for when you are on uneven ground don’t bother.
I think it is probably the worst thing I’ve bought for a long time, the pivot makes it unstable all the time and makes it hard work to push over any ground at all.
I’ve tried all sorts to stop it pivoting up to and including drilling holes in the pivot mechanism and putting big split pins through it all to no avail.
Better but still unstable one of the things I really wouldn’t even be happy selling to anyone secondhand. -

TF_inky fingerI have a 4 wheeled preston trolley and am more than happy with it over well maintained banks. It will deal with a bit of rough just don’t go too fast or load it to high. In my opinion it is unsuitable for really wild walks.I have owned it for about 4yrs and nothing has broken. The trolley packs down easily but remains quite large in a standard focus’s boot. When i am on the bank i always take the handles/carry sack off otherwise on windy days it can lead to comedy moments ! It has cost me a lot of money in new luggage and extra buckets because i can carry everything so easily.

TF_kookie3011Thanks.
It looks as though it will be between preston and the single wheel matrix. Unfortunately there is very little feedback on the matrix although there is a you tube clip. But as we all know it is the real users who give best feed back. Any other comments appreciated

TF_Time TravellerThere’s a write up on maggotdrowners.com from Feb 2012, says he likes it but….
Also not sure if it has been improved but also need to check if your box fits, seen several that did not fit a Fox. I have the Fox but it’s no longer available, the fixed front wheel has to be better than a swivel which seems to let down the Matrix.

TF_LolBwell i had the matiix pivot trolley went through 5 tyres. I mainly fish canals and rivers. With long walks back and forth to get my gear back to my car. In the end i asked for my money back and got it.Now have a converted two wheel preston not ideal but at least i can get all the kit back to the car in one go without the tyres blowing.

TF_bakerboyParticipantIf you have blow-up tyres, as a precaution, you need to use a puncture preventative such as Goop or Green Slime.
There are lots of this type of product, just check on Ebay.

TF_kookie3011Many thanks. I will bite the bullet and get the matrix Transorter. My box locks into this trolley I will update with a user report eventually as I don’t get out that often.

TF_LolBstated tyre pressure if i remember rightly was 25lb. when i took inner tube out that was only rated to 10lb. guess thats why they kept blowing.
