TF_piperpilotThe wife’s given me 10 grand for Christmas and I’m toying with the idea of buying an Airity. TBH I didn’t rate it much when I looked it over at ‘The Big One’ show last Feb but it wasn’t elasticated up so I wouldn’t be judgemental about it. I’m not interested in Match Fishing anymore and just want a top quality pole for all round pleasure fishing use. Although I’m massive Garbolino fan I’ve been down the G10 route and don’t want another one. Hated the finish on the Pro so that’s also out, Honest user comments welcome,

TF_Nigel.Ron, i have has one for 6 months now, and its fantastic. I had 3 pros, and have had a Champions choice 808 too, which i rate as being the best pole i ever had, but it was a silver pole realy. But this Airiy now is as good.
Light and stiff as you expect, but also soft and bends when you are playing a fish.
Its not a ‘hauling’ pole of course, you dont want to be pulling lumps out of snags with it!
If you have had a G10, then you have no other option realy, you wont regret it i promise. -
17/12/2008 at 10:44 pm #78916
TonyJ formerly BlunthookPP, do you post on here to brag about how much money you have,or is it that you have very little but wish you had some? There are plenty of people on here who have a few bob and many more who don’t. So why do most of your posts/ comments relate to what you can afford?
-
17/12/2008 at 11:11 pm #78917
TF_piperpilotHold on whenever do I brag!!!! about money. Nigel thanks for the info as I respect your opinions 100%. I’d always though that the Airity could handle moderate’ish’ Carping as I often fish a virtually unfished!! lake where the Carp although their only in the low doubles fight like big twenty’s. For serious heavy hauling I have my DTC 1 but I only tend to use it at 10m max,

TF_justin caseI cant fault mine had a fair few big doubles on it with no real hassle, I use mine for silverfish and bagging its a good all round pole and extremly responsive

TF_piperpilotGlebe1. My wife is an avid collector of Lalique Glass and as she knows I’m just a poor pilot she always bumps up my bank account at Christmas so I spend it on yet more Lalique!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and Presents for my mob. It’s a family tradition is that we have Morning/Afternoon and Evening presents,

TonyJ formerly BlunthookPP, how about the one where you could not decide which resteraunt to eat in, or the ones that you post about buying this or that and not using it but not liking it so i will now sell it at a loss? IMHO you just like to make yourself out to be rich {which maybe you are] but at the end of the day who givce a shit.
Oh, and you obviousely know fook all about poles or you would still have your G10.

I drink with a couple of pilots who EARN a lot of money but choose not to brag about it, strangely enough i don’t have a problem with them.
-
17/12/2008 at 11:30 pm #78925
TF_piperpilotAs they say Opinions are like ar5eholes everybody has one. I’ve sold thousands of pounds worth of top quality kit on TF and if I want to sell at a loss that’s my choice. Ask any of the Lads who have bought from me in the past. The G10 is a excellent pole but IMO not up to the type of fishing I enjoy,
-
17/12/2008 at 11:34 pm #78926

TF_piperpilotNCP I enjoy people overreacting to my posts. Gives me something to laugh about on a boring evening. Tone I hope your mates keep to the 12 hour bottle to throttle rule. Personally I like a glass of wine but alcohol has no place in the Aviation environment. The CAA rightly take a very dim view of pilots drinking,

17/12/2008 at 11:47 pm #78929
TonyJ formerly BlunthookIn actual fact my mates stick to a 24 hour bottle to throttle rule, they do this by choice as they are very responsible people. But when they are on leave we get together and have a good time on the bevvy, no harm in that is there?
I still think you are an complete asshole though…..

TF_piperpilotNigel seriously I will check one out. Thanks again for the info. SERIOUSLY AGAIN I apologise if I have offended anyone as that’s not my intention at all. Tony lighten up mate is only fishing and tell your mates that maybe we’ll be sharing a piece of sky someday. I’ll be the one having a laugh and joke with ATC unlike the computerised clones that now seem to sit in the front of the boring Aluminium tubes that were once called Aeroplanes,

Ron it’s not only fishing IMHO.You come on here bragging about what you can afford and what you are going to buy, but if you spared a thought for the people who can’t and proberbly never will be able to afford these things then you would maybe, just maybe think before you posted.

18/12/2008 at 12:07 am #78936
TF_piperpilotTony I assure you I do mate. I have lots of mates who are up 5hit creek and I do my best to help them in anyway I can. Back home we’ve set up a fund to help the folk on Sark who have just been 5hit on by the Barclay bros. I’m not bragging at all but my family and I have made a substantial donation to help them out over Christmas. I hope that everyone on TF knows that I would not do anything to offend anyone in anyway,
-
18/12/2008 at 12:20 am #78937
TF_makerso why say you have 10k to spend on a pole? Or are you buying 3 poles, 1 to use and 2 to sell. . . . . At a loss?
-
18/12/2008 at 12:38 am #78938
TF_piperpilotNope only allocated myself roughly 3 for a pole and it will be the last one I’ll ever buy as I’m moving more and more into Big Fish Carping as almost all of my mates have done in the last year or so. Going to give pole fishing one last summer before I sell up and make the move. My mum now needs a stair lift at home so the rest will be going on that. Sickens me seeing those poor buggers sleeping rough on the street of Rich!!! London and I always make a donation to Crisis at Christmas,

TF_D.W.Whatever you buy Ron, I will offer you £50 for it (but you might have to lend me the money mate lol).
-
18/12/2008 at 9:14 am #78944
TF_JohnHTony, chill, Ron is an allround good geezer, I have bought gear from him and sold to him as have many others on here. I think Ron just buys stuff then gets bored with it. Dont you remember as a kid staring into the tackle shop window salivating over the rods reels floats etc. I do, and now I have a garage full of gear most of which will never see the light of day again but I, unlike Ron, could never sell it.
Just keep your eyes peeled for a lightly used Arity in a month or twos time!! -
18/12/2008 at 9:46 am #78946

18/12/2008 at 9:58 am #78948
PoolFodderpp, here’s my honest advice. If you’re after a pole to pose with get the Airity, I’ve caught fish with them and they are ok. If you want to catch lumps that go like stink buy an original Grim Reaper for £100. £9,900 left to do what you want with and you’ll land more fish.
-
18/12/2008 at 10:37 am #78949
series5how much does a polar bear weigh?……….enough to break the ice, im luke hancock.
but seriously, put your claws away guys, i mean
come on!!!!!i recently picked up the aspire ax or whatever its called, very impressed and seems a lot stronger than most, especially the airity i have handled. well it must be for steve ringer to use it.
if not i love maver poles so i would also vote for the elite 77
-
18/12/2008 at 11:21 am #78951
TF_piperpilotWish I could get to see one of the new Maver’s but no shop I use has them. Will keep what I’ve recently bought until June/July when I plan to move over to Carping. So keep a look out as everything will be flogged off cheap again!!!!!!. After some good advice from Kev I now have some extra top kits for my Trab DTC 1 which I’ll use for the Animal lake I fish. Personally I’m not interested in overstocked commercials and will be doing most of my pleasure fishing in harder natural venues. Anyone who’s met or fished with me will tell you that my generosity is legendary within reason!!!! that is. Darren those Neoterics you sold me are magnificent. Whats your views on Century NG’s,
-
18/12/2008 at 1:01 pm #78952
TF_D.W.NG’s are great rods in the 2.75lb TC. Put it this way, I would give you £75 for a pair of them with no hesitations!!!!!
-
18/12/2008 at 1:12 pm #78953
Anonymousponti, the airity is a very good pole but its not the lightest nor is it the stiffist and it does have a good finish which slides through your hands.obviously money is not an object ,as you so blatently boast, if you want to look the part and be a tart just by one.
all the gear and no idea comes to mind here me thinks!

18/12/2008 at 3:03 pm #78955
TF_Happy DanglerI’ve just read this thread and now also have a dreadful moral dilemma to face!
Here goes….
I once bought a job lot of barely used and unused tackle from Ron (Piperpilot) and one of the rods was a brand new, never used Maver 20′ Float Rod….
My dilemma is this.
I recently sold that rod to TonyJ formerly Blunthook. Do you think he will kill me when he finds out???
Sorry Tony.

TF_piperpilotRick I remember that one as I’d been using it as a clothes line prop.lol, Honestly it was a lovely rod and it cost me a bundle at the time,
-
18/12/2008 at 3:59 pm #78958
TF_JohnHChrist Ron you must have a high washing line, 20 foot high, how do you reach it?
-
18/12/2008 at 4:21 pm #78959
TF_peter9000ukI will also vouch for Ron being a top geezer. I have had a few bits and pieces of him in the past and he has even gone as far as catching the train to my local station to meet me!
Tony, I think you would be very surprised if you met Ron in person. You must realise how the written word can be interpreted in a totally different way to how it would come over face to face. Blimey there’s enough arguments on here because of this already
-
18/12/2008 at 4:28 pm #78961
PoolFodderDon’t worry Rick, he hasn’t got it yet.
-
18/12/2008 at 5:42 pm #78963

TF_p2hl_p2hlhey PP
now is not the time to buy a pole in the first place…
wait until march(ish) when the new models are out…
there might just be more options available…i do not want a new pole…i want a new iron, heavy iron…
(i will be going to parma early next year to pick a new pole, life is great)

TF_piperpilotImmaterial mate as if you knew anything about poles you’d know that the G10 is brilliant and a steal at a grand. Save up all your pennies and one day in about 20 years just maybe you’ll be able to buy one. If it’s anything to do with you the seller was a right nice bloke and it would have been my pleasure to buy the G10 from him but a lucky chap nearer bought it and got himself a top quality pole at a bargain price and good luck to him,
