Used my Airty today with no 1 section removed and standard no 4 and dolly butt up the back of the 16m section, I was told it was too long and exceeded 16m should I use the short 4 if I use dolly butt ?

I don’t know how long you no1 are, and if daiwa do make the Airity 16m exactly. But the only way really is to measure the pole with a tape measure. I was surprised when I measures my pole. With a short 4 and my kit same length as no1 removed with 16m extension was 14.5m. This is not a daiwa pole

My opinion on this is if you’ve got the 16m section in your hand and it says 16m on the section thats the limit you should be fishing.Do we really want to get into measuring pole lengths or holding them up against posts etc.If you want to fish to the maximum length of your pole or even longer,( with extensions) fish matches where pole length limits are not in force.Or you could always buy a Garbolino 😉 PS I use a Daiwa

I believe Daiwa poles come up short and Nathan fishes without a number 1 uses a short 4 and 4 silver butt sections without the dolly butt on a tournament pro and he says thats 16m?

Dolly butts are good for striking there stronger than a normal section so you dont risk elbow cracks, not that I was doing much striking today !!!!!

Ant I think that fishing your pole as discribed it still wouldn’t be 16mtres Daiwa poles do come up short and the fact that the no 1 is vitually the same length as the short dolly butt the pole would still have been under 16mtres

Another option might be to use BBPKI on your no3 that will extend your pole an extra 300mm at least (not cut back). Obviously this will affect the action of your pole, but that won’t matter much if your catching nowt 😉

Thanks for the replies,I didnt think Id bent the rules, to save arguments anyway I fished without the dolly but in,like Badger says your dont want a scenario where everyones measuring poles on the bank Ive seen it at Whie Acres where one angler took a section to the lodge to be hacksawed so he had exactly 16m.
