Would agree – on a match on lake 4 bust a number 4 on a fish and it took the top kit to the island – after the match he did the same without question

          Top bloke

            Have to agree.
I have been fishing Makin’s for 10/12 years and Alan is rapidly bringing the fishery back to its former glory back in the Billy Makin years. This after British Waterways completely devastated the place some years back. He’s put in a lot of hard work and recent results reflect this with phases 2 and 3 in the best form ever.
Added to this he’s a great bloke and always happy to help. I book matches for the club I run every year and he always looks after us. Sufficient pegs and room to run a proper match rather than the every peg money first philosophy found on many commercials. Always a good turnout.
Shame there aren’t a few more teams of six interested in the Winter League held Sept – Dec. This used to be the biggest Winter League in the UK. Perhaps with the current form of the fishery we will see a better turnout this year.
Hat off to him. Keep up the good work.

Half a dozen of us have just started recently fishing this venue’ have met Alan who has defiantly got a great place there pools and surrounding grounds are always well looked after the fishing is excellent” I watched him get the boat out to rescue a skimmer that had jumped onto a floating island during the match so he obviously has fish welfare high on his list’ keep up the good work Al it’s defiantly going to pay off.

              A very satisfied customer.

Makins Avon, Inner Avon and Severn Pools 08.06.14.
Yet again Alan saves the day providing extra pegs at short notice to cater for a better turnout than expected and providing plenty of room for all on the match with at least a spare peg every side of each angler. So as you would expect the weights were excellent.
                1. G. Harper Inner Avon 4 129.08
                2 A. Inglesant Severn 25 117.00
                3. C Harrison Severn 11 72.08
                4. M Gilby Inner Avon 2 70.00
Most weighed in between 30 and 40lb with a number of 50’s and 60’s. Outer Avon fished harder than expected, the ton up weights of recent didn’t happen. All in all and excellent day.
                Get down to Makins.

Agreed, he’s very obliging. Have not been recently but have a match there soon. Has the food in the cafe on Phase 1 improved or did I go there on a bad day?

May I too, post my sincere thanks to Alan, the owner of Makins. Unlike other money grabbing fishery owners, this gentleman, goes out of his way to help anglers. Twice now, we have had matches at his lakes and, on both occassions he has given us two lakes to space out our disabled anglers. Also he advises, what pegs to fish at. An out and out gentleman. Thanks Alan.

Vince 8, cafe has changed hands and the food is now very good, lovely breakfast and a fair price. Hope that you enjoy your day there.
