Anglian Water Airflo International Final
FLY-FISHING SEASON’S BIG EVENT
AT RUTLAND WATER
Expert fly-fishermen from six countries battle it out next week at Rutland Water in the climax of a six-month long fishing championship
The event final runs from 6 to 7 October, when the Anglian Water Airflo International Final brings 25 teams of experts from France, Belgium, Ireland, Wales, Scotland and England to compete together at Rutland Water.
These six-man teams are the survivors from the original teams who have been fishing eliminators and national finals throughout the British Isles since April. Their goal is to win this prestigious international final and hold aloft the Silver Salver, first presented in 1982.
Anglian Water’s fishery manager Jon Marshall explained, “We have been hosting the final on our reservoirs since the contest was first run in 1982 and this year there are five new teams taking part. There are several local anglers fishing, including Iain Barr of Peterborough, the current world champion. Iain’s team are also the current holders of the silver salver.
With the help of sponsor Airflo the competition has been a fantastic success. Rutland Water is fishing at its best so we can look forward to a great final with anglers having to be on top form to take home the trophy.â€
