Fish week 831 (season 22,886) Returns 234(6,082) Rod average 3.55(3.76)
Big fish are appearing at Rutland Water with two cracking fish taken this week – a Brown of 6lb 9½oz and a Rainbow of 5lb 11½oz – both taken by the same boat. Oakham anglers Tom Pattenden and Grant McMurray headed to the top of the North Arm where big fish have been sighted on most days. Tom said “It was well worth it, with good fish moving around the boat at the time, I knew if we could land one it would be a good weight”. Both anglers had cracking fish – Tom landing the 6lb 9½oz Brown and Grant the 5lb 11½oz Rainbow.Bank angler John Wadham of Oakham was delighted to catch a 6lb 7oz Rainbow from the bank at the top of the North Arm. John said ”I took this fish on a small floating fry – it was a thirteen year personal best. I also caught one of 5lb 7oz on the next cast!”
The bigger fish are feeding on a good mixture of sticklebacks, fry, corixa and the odd snail. Prospects look very good with fish feeding on the surface. Sunday evening saw a fall of flying ants and some early daddy long legs are also showing.

Fish week 778 (season 15,078) Returns 145 (4,004) Rod average 5.3 (3.76)
The fishing for the time of year is very good with a rod average of 5.3. Plenty of fish are on the surface feeding heavily on the vast shoals of pin fry, with the South corner of the Dam being the main area, also all along from Valley Creek to Perry Point. However, the shrimp feeding fish are the most catchable and these are deeper down. Grafham Water warden Mark Haycock took out a client Jack Porter, they both had a good day out catching and releasing 25 fish between them on shrimp patterns fished about 6 to 8 feet down in the South corner of the Dam.
Anglers are reporting vast numbers of fish moving in Savages Creek to fry and snails, but are finding them slightly tricky to catch.
