Rutland Water is in excellent form and this week hosts the Anglian Water Airflo International. 25 teams of experts from France, Belgium, Ireland, Wales, Scotland and England are heading to Rutland with the goal of holding aloft the silver salver first presented in 1982. Jon Marshall, Anglian Water’s Fishery manager, said “We have been hosting the final at Rutland Water since the contest began back in 1982. The championship grows ever popular as this year we had five new teams taking part.
There are several local anglers fishing, including Iain Barr, of Peterborough, the current world champion. Iain captained last year’s winning team and is one of the favourites to take the Anglian Water Airflo title in 2009. With the help of sponsor Airflo the competition has been a fantastic success. Rutland Water is fishing at its best so we can look forward to a great final with anglers having to be on top form to take the trophy.â€
