        Grafham Water

Anglers fishing Grafham Water have enjoyed a rod average of 2.49 for the week. The most consistent bank sport has been from the north shore with Pylon Point, G Buoy, Marlow Bay, Willows, north end and bowl of Dam producing the best catch rates. The best methods have been to fish floating lines with minkies, GRHE, diawl bachs, shrimp patterns and Pitsford Peas which are best fished slowly.

Boat anglers have also had a good week’s sport with the south shore of the reservoir producing the most consistent catch rates on intermediate/Di3 lines with minkies, fabs, crunchers, tubes, diawl bachs and PTN’s. Boat anglers have also taken some good catches at Pylon Point and Willows by fishing the same methods as the south shore.

24 Anglers took part in this bank match with a festive twist. 80 Trout were caught for an impressive rod average of 3.33. The vast majority of the competitors fished floating lines with minkies and small nymphs from the North shore and Dam areas.

Top rod on the day was Tim Joyce who caught 6 fish for 18lb with his best fish weighing 3lb 5oz. The biggest fish of the match was caught by Chris Bobby who took a superb overwintered Rainbow of 4lb 10oz.

Chris caught his winning bag by fishing a floating line at the Willows with a FAB Blob and a Shrimp pattern with a slow retrieve. The heaviest fish of the match was caught by fellow season ticket holder Steve Jones. Steve caught a rainbow of 4lb 8oz on a Black and Green Booby at G Buoy on a floating line.

Details in the tackle shop or from our wardens. The tackle shop is open Wednesday to Sunday inclusive during December and January 9a.m. to 2p.m.

        Ravensthorpe Reservoir

Mat Kasjaniuk of Leicester enjoyed an outstanding day at Ravensthorpe last week. Mat took two Pike on Thursday 27 November. Both were caught on soft lures – the biggest weighed 35lb 6oz and is a personal best. As far as we are aware this massive Pike is the biggest recorded on our waters this season. Mat also landed another specimen of 20lb plus.

Trout anglers continue to enjoy some outstanding sport at Ravensthorpe. Recently Jon Morgan-Parker from Crewe shared a boat with a friend and the pair had a great day. Jon says ”We had such a brilliant day and I also caught a nice large 7lb 14oz Blue Trout”.

The fishery is now closed and re-opens for Pike fishing 14-22 February 2015. Anglers wishing to book Ravensthorpe boats for 2015 please call Grafham Lodge on 01480 810531.
