Good quality fish are coming out of Rutland Water for both bank and boat anglers. Rainbows averaging 2½ to 3lb and numbers of out of season Browns are also being caught.
Methods have varied. Boat anglers are taking fish around the shoreline with floating/intermediate lines coupled with minkies, humungus, diawl bach, pheasant tails. Some boat anglers opting to fish the rudder have relied on various sinking lines and depending on wind strength have been using tube flies.

Bank anglers have caught on the fry patterns and nymphs used by the boat anglers along areas like East Creek, fishing Harbour wall, Barnhill and Carrot Creek to Sykes Lane.

Boats will be available right up to the weekend of Saturday 30 November/ Sunday 1 December. Please phone in advance before travelling.

        Grafham Water
        Fish week 252 (season 22,989) Returns 90 (5,979) Rod average 2.8(3.84)
Anglers continue to enjoy some great fishing at Grafham Water with a large proportion of fish caught weighing over 3lb. The biggest fish of the week was taken on the right hand Harbour Arm by Season Ticket holder Chris Bobby of Great Staughton. Chris caught a cracking over wintered Rainbow of 5lb 2oz on a sinking line with a minkie.

Boat anglers have had a good week’s fishing with the Stumps, G Buoy, lodge frontage and Deep Water Point being the most productive areas on the reservoir. The most consistent methods for the boat anglers have been intermediate or medium sunk lines with tubes, minkies, humungus booby and diawl bachs.

Bank anglers have also had a tremendous week’s fishing with the North shore again producing the most consistent fishing, mainly due to the brisk north easterly winds that have been ever present over the past week. Hill Farm, Pylon and Deep Water Points and G Buoy have all produced some truly great sport for the bank anglers with the most consistent method being black and green nymphs or lures fished slowly on a slime line. The Harbour Arms have also produced some cracking sport over the week when the winds have been favourable with a number of quality fish being taken on either gold and silver tubes or minkies.

Grafham Water Fur and Feather – this popular seasonal bank match is on Sunday 1 December. For more information contact the fishing lodge on 01480 810531.

        Fish week 49 (season 12,601) Returns 31 (3,810) Rod average 1.5(3.3)
Boat anglers have been making the most of their season at Pitsford Water, taking several good specimens in the 4lb bracket. Pitsford regulars Pat Flynn and Pete Webb have maintained their fantastic rod average catching many trout last week. They have fished minkie boobies on sunk lines to tempt fish in the area in front of the Causeway. The best boat areas have been the basin from the Causeway up to Stone Barn.

Bank anglers are also being rewarded with superb quality fish, but not in such great numbers as the boat anglers. There have been some lovely silver finned specimens taken around the 3-4lb mark. All fish caught are in fantastic condition and hard fighting. The best areas for bank anglers are the Sailing Club, Cliffs and Duffers.
