Steve Battle of Bedford caught the heaviest bag and the best fish of the week. Steve’s Rainbow weighed 5lb 8oz and was part of a cracking 8 fish limit of 28lb 13oz. Steve was boat fishing at Hedge End and I Buoy with a floating line with pheasant tail nymphs and Diawl Bachs. Mike Flynn from Plymouth caught the heaviest Brown of the week, a cracking fish of 4lb 12oz which he took on a cormorant with a midge tip line from the Harbour.Bank anglers have enjoyed the best of the fishing this past week with the South end of the Dam producing the most consistent catch rates on floating lines with Gold Ribbed Hares Ear, black buzzers, diawl bachs and crunchers. The Willows, Marlow Stones, Deep Water Point and the Harbour have produced some fine sport over the past week.
Most areas of the reservoir are producing good sport for boat anglers – apart from Savages Creek with plenty of Pike but few trout. Best boat methods are proving to be floating lines with cormorants, GRHE, PTN, crunchers, diawl bachs and brown or claret hoppers to medium and fast sink lines with blobs, boobies, cormorants and small nymphs.

Fish week 243(season 7,290) Returns 102 (1,626) Rod average 2.3(4.4)
Changeable weather conditions influenced the rod average earlier in the week. As conditions improved over the weekend the fishing picked up. Richard Williams took twelve fish in a morning boat session fishing nymphs washing line style around the Flats and Pitsford Creek. Bank anglers continue to enjoy sport in the margins where sedges are in abundance along with damsels and daddies. The best areas to try are Bog Bay, Stilton and the Sailing Club from the bank. Boat anglers will find the best sport in Brixworth Bay, the Dam, Boils and Flats. Floating or slow intermediate lines with nymphs and small booby or fabs are working best.

Fish week 439 (season 9,237) Returns 69 (1,192) Rod average 6.3 (7.7)
Anglers enjoyed great top of the water sport towards the end of the week at Ravensthorpe with ideal conditions for fishing dry fly. Many anglers have been catching on klinkhammmer, cdc emergers and hoppers. Washing line tactics have also worked well. Earlier in the week buzzers and diawl bachs on floating lines were taking fish. Thousands of damsels are showing but damsels don’t seem to be taking the fish.Mick Griffin and Graham Smith had 30 plus fish to the boat on Sunday. All fish were taken with washing line tactics. Some good fish are being caught from the bank with John Smith taking one of 5lb 2oz from Platform 4. Jim Ferguson had one of 4lb from the Dam on Friday.
The best fish of the week was an 8lb Rainbow taken by Ian Hazel of Bury St Edmunds. Other anglers landing good specimens included Doug Whibley – 5lb and C Kilner – 4lb. Francis Wignall aged 16 took a few fish.
Peter Thurmer held a match on Saturday with Lawyers versus All Stars. It was a hard day but most anglers caught on a variety of methods and everyone had a great time and enjoyed a barbecue lunch.
