Fish week 127 (season 29,806) Returns 67 (8,996) Rod average 1.89 (3.35)
The best fish of the week was a Rainbow of 5lb 13½oz taken by Dan Pitcher. Dan of Langham, Oakham, who has taken up the sport in the last few months, caught this cracking fish from the bank at Yellowstone on a floating line with a minkie. The best area for bank anglers has been the Peninsula with boat anglers also catching fish in a number of areas.Good friends Ken Merriden of Uppingham, Paul Friend of Edith Weston and Roger McCarthy of Melton Mowbray shared a boat last Wednesday and managed twelve fish by 2pm. On the same day two or three other boats recorded 11 fish to the boat.
Predator fishing
Steady numbers of Zander have been caught with the best around 8lb with one or two Pike also being caught up to 15lb.Boats will be available up to Sunday 25 November – please phone the fishing lodge to confirm (01780 686441).

Fur and Feather bank fishing competition Sunday 2 December. This is a popular match with a festive twist and seasonal prizes. Fishing 9am to 4pm (meet back at the lodge no later than 4.30pm).

Grafham Water has continued to fish well for both bank and boat anglers with 55% of the trout caught weighing 3lb or over.Bank anglers have had a good week’s fishing with once again the Dam being the most productive area on the reservoir, with floating lines with shrimp patterns and gold ribbed hares ears being the main method. However, the Seat and Gaynes Cove have also produced good consistent fishing with floating lines with minkies and cats whiskers being the best method.
Boat anglers have also had a good week’s fishing with the Dam, Willows, G and D Buoys, Seat, Sludge Bank and Gaynes Cove all producing good consistent fishing. The best methods for the boat anglers this week have been floating or Di3 lines with Cats Whiskers, minkies, GRHE, shrimp patterns and gold and silver tubes.

Please note the Brown trout season ended on 29 October. Any Browns caught must be returned safely to the water. Since 1 November the western end of the reservoir has been out of bounds for all fishing (bank and boat). Please see wardens or shop staff if you are unsure of the restrictions.

Some good fish are still being caught at Pitsford Water with several weighing around 4lb plus.Pitsford Water hosted the popular Fur and Feather boat match on Sunday with 40 anglers making it a great day. In total 67 fish were taken with several good Browns reportedly caught and returned.
Best boat pair on the day was Lloyd Chantrell and Neil Young with nine fish for a healthy 23lb 10oz. In second place were Clive Morgan and Gary Morris with ten fish for 22lb 11oz.
Anglian Water’s Chris Butcher and Mark Benstead took third place with nine fish for 16lb 7oz.The best fish of the day and for the week was a superb Rainbow of 6lb 6oz taken by Mick Hawkins, fishing a midge tip line and two tone blob off Duffers. The best method was fishing fry patterns or boobies on sunk lines out the back of the boat.
Bank anglers still have the chance of a ‘special’ fish, fishing around the margins with fry patterns or corixa, snail imitations. The best areas from the bank are the Gravels, Rigbys and Duffers.

Sport has been steady this week. Those anglers braving the weather have been rewarded with some good quality fish.Season ticket holder John Smith ended his season in style by catching and returning a massive Rainbow estimated at 12lb. John was bank fishing from Platform 4 using floating line and a minkie. Warden and shop assistant Mark helped John to land the massive fish – well done John.
Best methods have been floating or sinking lines with fry patterns or lures fished slow.
Pike anglers are catching Pike up to 20lb on lures and dead baits this week.
Best Rainbow 12lb taken by John Smith and returned to the water.
