Arity v Pro

Is the Arity worth the extra money or not? You can get A pro for £1800 brand new now but the Arity is still £2500 ish. Thats a big difference for an upgrade.
I have a pro and loads of kits so would not consider an alternative to Daiwa but the key question is, what do you get for the extra £700 and is it worth it?

John I have a mate who has both and almost always uses his Pro. I asked him why and he says he cannot put a reason to it but he just feels more comfortable using the Pro. You could go for the ProX basic package at about 2K as you have lots of kits but I have heard that they “wobble” a bit at 16m which coud be down to the extra taping on the 5 and 6 sections that the original Pro does not have.

I have a mate who recemtly ‘upgraded’ from a Pro to a Airity. Only difference he noticed was that the finish was slightly better & joints didn’t seem to work loose quite as easy.

I love mine, i found it much better than the pro. I thought the pro was stiff and btittle, and the Airity still stiff, but is softer, an bends when playing big fish.

£700 better? IMO yes!

too many poles have caught up with the pro and i would say with the airity now as well
i waited and waited until i could get a pro but the problem was the sections would still come apart to easily for my liking

but what i would say it has a large following because the second hand price still holds a high price

In two years I think I have only had the sections come apart on my pro maybe 2 or 3 times when shipping out,does this problem get worse with age of the pole or do many people have this problem all the time? I think once or twice a year is not bad going, never tried an airty but very happy with my pro and not considering changing whatsoever.

The sections on my pro have allways worked loose from the day I bought it. I understand most uses rub a strip of candle wax on each male section before use, I do and the problem is sorted.

Never had the problem of sections working apart on my Pro,but used to have it happen reguarly on my Spectron??

i think the key to the the sections not coming apart is to give them a little twist as you push them together.
my pro seems fine but i used to get it a lot with my shimano aspire pro.
my mate has the pro x and to be honest the finish on it is way better in the rain.
also i’ve heard a few people say that when it’s very hot ( b.b.q summer~clap) the airity can burn your arm ~think

wot pole doesnt burn your arm when it warm in summer??

Ive got an Airity but I still think rebranding the Tournament pro signals the end of the Airity, same as the reels I got Airity reels they have been replaced with TDX reels

The conclusion seems to be that they are both top poles with little to better them on the market. However other top range poles I am sure are not that different. The price levey on the Arity when compared to the pro is large considering the advantages.
I will therefore stick with the pro.
I expect in the next few years Arity prices will fall quickly to the same level as the pro.

imo (as a owner of a TP for 3yrs) the Airity is far better. The balance at 16m is awesome so if somebody wants my TP in a swap… i’ll snap your hand off.

Just to point out though that the TP best pole/item of tackle i have ever bought.~clap

The airity reels have not been replaced by the tdx, the tdx is just a new reel by daiwa, airity reels still in daiwa brochure 2010.

I stand corrected marker I dont think they will sell many do you ? Why didnt they put the additional features on their flagship reel the Airitys instead of launching yet another model ?

Good post this, i guess i will one day replace my Spectron with either an Airity or Pro but which one I’m not sure. At the moment I’m happy with my Spectron but i know it won’t last forever.

Freddy I will explain my logic, When I bought an Airity pole I bought it as an improved Tourny pro with a better finish and comprehensive spares package, And its a fantastic piece of kit i love it today I fished with a cheap pole because of the wind and It just remined me how lucky I am owning such a class piece of kit but why did Daiwa upgrade the Tournament pro surley they already had ? And with the reels whats the point in releasing a flagship reel and then troubleshooting the product then releasing a updated product under a different header ? Just my thoughts and to be honest Im glad its panned out that way I got Airity reels from a shop who couldnt sell them due to the release of the TDXs for closer to the price of TDRs, so now I must ask Freddy why do you think they are different products ? What next then will the Flagship be Airity or TDX or whatever they bring out tommorrow ? Would you buy a top of the range car to find out the model had been superceeded ?

If you bought it as an improved pro you were either mis informed or you didn’t read the spec’s of the poles,it’s a diferent pole,i.e different carbon and a different finish,the mandrels the same and is shared with a few daiwa poles,the reels are the same castings but made of different materials with different innards,so they are different products,the Airity is here for a while yet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe it is, but based on what most Pro uses think the price difference to upgrade does not seem to be worth it. If you dont have a pro or have monety to burn then maybe go for the arity but the pro seems to be better value.
Like most poles the longer they are out there the cheaper they become, I expect the price of the Arity will come down soon.

The Airity pole John is a great piece of kit I have had it 2 years and when I get my next pole I would consider buying another one,I think the initial response to the Airity was not as Bigger success as Daiwa had hoped hence why they brought an improved Tournament pro out. The Airity reels why didnt Daiwa fit push button spools to them their Flagship range ? Im not arguing with anyone here by the way I do see what Freddy,Drawbag & Sharkteeth are saying makes sense, The original specification and orientation of the Airity pole must have been wrongly described to myself,Its still a brilliant piece of kit though !

Pro x is the way to go far superior finish to both the old pro and airity, the good thing ant is that spares will never be much of a problem as daiwa have sold shed loads, why the changes? well all products need upgrading, the finish on the pro x is an upgrade daiwa should have made some time ago imo, however maybe they held back a bit knowing that when they did introduce it on a new pole it would generate fresh sales, whats next magic steps ? lol
