The lake’s bream shoals turned on to the feed on a cooler more overcast day following a succession of hot sunny days and some outstanding catches were made.
Match winner Mark Bissett from Birmingham made full use of form peg 70 by the playground where he found a massive shoal of fish feeding hard and amassed a catch of over 127lbs, one of the best weights from the lake in recent years. Mark’s successful tactic was to fish method feeder with pop-up 10mm boilies on the hook and his catch included three carp for 23lb and the balance was all made up of bream going up to around 4lb for a great days fishing.
Runner-up Paul Bick continued his strong form on the lake over on the Shakespeare bank at peg 20 where he fished pole and pellet over ground bait to take mainly skimmers with one or two better bream for a catch of over 57lb.
Third spot was filled by Andy Walton from peg 55 where he fished the feeder to the island for 47lb 10oz of big bream ahead of Scott Poynton with a pole caught bag of 46lb 12oz of mainly skimmers from peg 39.
