TF_Time TravellerI know this gets asked almost every week, but given money no object, is the Rive D36 still the best on the market?
Anyone like to put something else up against it?

TF_hjartatColmic The ONE, have used it for almost a year now and no complains yet.

TF_GillboThe best box is the one which suits you and your fishing best!
…and contrare to popular belief not the most expensive or best looing box on the market!
For me it happens to be a Rive D25 ST as I fish commercials mainly. The box is comfortable, very stable and it is easy to swap trays around to suit different venues. If I fidshe matches canals or rivers more often I would probably go for a Fox MSB Euro 1 or Matchbox World Class as they are light enough to carry, well built and have enough space.

TF_piperpilotRive but with the recent price increases they are IMO now very poor value for money. A decent used box is a good option but I would now go for the Platt-Forms range if I was buying a new box,

TF_Staff BullIve had Rive,Milo,Preston,Daiwa and can say that i rate the Daiwa 200 as good as any of em especially for the money. Rive well overpriced in my opinion, good boxes but do they really justify that price ~think.

TF_Two-netsI quite fancy a new box but after reading this thread https://www.total-fishing.com/forum.aspx?g=posts&t=27109 it definitely won’t be a Rive.
I quite like the look and feel of the Milo boxes so the new Milo Superba box will go to the top of my list – I’ll wait for KC’s or somebody to get them in to have a look at.

TF_BacseyParticipantIve been looking at boxes for a few months now and have heard good and bad things about many,i think the rive is to pricey and heavy and dont like the sound of the leaking draws.I am also keen to see the new milo as it ticks many boxes for me,i own a milo and have no probs with it but would like to upgrade now and the match plus looks great with loads of storage and versitility.

TF_Time TravellerWell thanks guys some food for thought, guess will need to look at the Rive but sounds like a bit of negotiation may be needed. Definirely look at Milo as well. Take the point on what type of fishing you are doing though, don’t need to lug a lump down the towpath even on a barrow.
I have a PF UK 5 series only about 2 years old, but a bit dissappointed to be honest. Looks good nice seat but trays and stuff not good mmmmm ????

TF_Pete MThe Platt-Forms UK boxes are one of the most under rated boxes on the market today IMO. One of the few boxes that’s still built in the UK.
Unfortunately they’re not to easy to find in the shops.
I’ve had a Series 3 for just over 2 years now with no problems and you can find my thoughts on it HERE.THIS is Platt-Forms own pdf file on their range of boxes.

TF_poleanglerMost comfortable box has got to be the Garbolino some times wish i had kept mine. Using a Rive DX which is still going strong after all this time. If i could get a seat as comfy and manouverable as the Garbolino on a frame like mine or may be an ST would have that for definate.

TF_mike pattinsonI ain’t the smallest of blokes at 19st+, had a kiley river box used for 15yrs until I retired it for renovation and use of grandson.
Bought a Rive ST of Tackle 21 three years ago been using it at least every weekend since. Bought some spare draws 30 & 60mm and 30mm trays, for different venues, made 750mm adjustable legs, makes trays and pole hooks more accessible (back problems).
I don’t use the wheels kit anymore as I carry the box and use a trolley to carry Tournament carryall and rive bag.
Box is comfortable, as stable as any I’ve owned or tried, don’t need a platform anymore for those steep pegs.
The ST is the better of the rive boxes in my opinion, when using adjustable legs the leg screws are not used as much and don’t fail as some have according to posts on here.
Only down side is cost of extras, but Preston are good.

TF_Time TravellerTwitter Update……from TT,
I have started the process of looking for the box getting around the localshops and trawling the ‘tinternet, it’s unbelieveable there are a smany opinions as there are boxes.
Just for info I’ve had a Watercraft for donkeys’ flogged it got a PF UK 5 series at first thot it was the dogs, but lack of decent float tray and seat is now sqashed down, good for reels and bigger stuff.
Just fancied somethings else now looked atRive
Milo
Daiwa
Faps
Seem a Browning they need to make their mind up Guns or TackleHas anyone seen the Milo web site, Crikey it’s like “Scrap Heap Challenge” you need an enginerring degree to put that lot together especially the Redheart!! but the engineering looks good I’m, erring that way I was posted a long thread on Rive issues, Milo at the Mo !!
