best float pattern

open water lakes and snake lakes fishing meat on near shelf one venue is nearly always windy so a pattern for calm and windy conditions.cheers steve.

My choice is:-

Pencils (from 4×10 to 0.6g) for calmer with little to no flow setting up two different sizes to fish on the drop and in last two feet.

When there is a wind and a strong flow I use diamonds again in different sizes (0.5 – 1.25g) with long bristles (75mm) sometimes. I use these up to 1.25g over that I have rugby ball shaped floats upto 3.5g the latter don’t get used very often but can be the difference between catching or blanking when a bait has to be still.

Calm conditions something like a chimp or malman dolphin – wire stem for stability and quick cocking, bristle visible but not overly thick. Deeper water/ bad conditions a Wilkie Diamond.

Hillbilly Shindig 0.3gr long thin bristle 1.5mm you can trim the long bristle down burying your line out of the surface tow, the pattern has a similiar foot print to a chimp so its sensitive and wont fall apart after 5 carp like a Chimp.
