I bought the Morphy Richards (sp?!) 1kW grinder from Argos, was about £45 IIRC.
I’ve used it a fair bit, grinding 6mm / 8mm Skrettings, and other similar sized pellets. It’s more than powerful enough, but I use it conservatively as I don’t want to burn the motor out, so only grind 2 pints at a time. It grinds 2pints of 8mm’s in about 20 seconds, although when you riddle it after you’ll find 1 or 2 whole pellets that some how always slip thru’ – that’s the centrifugal theory though I guess.
All I can say is to get the most powerful motor you can, preferably with a ‘pulse’ button as this will prevent the amount of whole pellets coming out.
Pro’s:
Quick, powerful, pulse button, cost effective
Con’s:
Glass container is OTT, and also hard to clean especially when liquidizing meat etc, realistically only 2pints at a time max or the motor is likely to burn out.
