TF_piperpilotDrennan ex-strong carp. Now renamed as a series 7. Absolutely faultless in every way,

TF_Dave Pelletyes!
what they said
Drennan Series 7 Ex-Strong
the new version of the original Ex-Strong which in fairness was quite expensivethe new one is fractionally shorter at 3.3m but it’s cheaper at around £40

dazaster1ParticipantAnother vote for the Drennan Ex strong. I got one of the new style ones for my old man at christmas and imho the new one looks slightly better it has two screw threads on the first and second sections so you can use it as normal all three sections or just the two and three section which I think you could lift cars up with~clap

TF_GaryAnother vote for Drennan, here.
Personally, I like the three piece take apart handles because I prefer a short landing net handle and hence very rarely use the third section.

TF_PaddyEither the original Drennan, or the new series 7 extra strong – bomb proof!

TF_scarfTricast XRS 8’3″ take apart. Slim, light, strong and amazingly cheap at around £25 + post from Weston Tackle.

TF_Fisherman-NLDon’t have any experience with the drennan although the general consencus is very very good.
I have use two netsy handles and one of the snapped on a big bream and on the replacement the connector wasn’t glued properly.
So I am on the look out for something new because although the netsy is perfect now I have lost confindce.
Noticed the Tricast and although a bit short at 12ft 6 (prefer 4-5 mtr) will be my next purchase when I am in England in april. -

TF_DecaffPurchased one last week, for my upcoming week at StaffordMoor, feels nice & strong, just the job i think.?
Didn’t fancy using my Netsy, but i’m sure it would have coped, would have been expensive if i break it though,so it can come as a spare. -

TF_feederanother vote for drennen.

TF_daverobertsI know very lettle about landing net handles simply because I haven’t bought one for about 6 years.
The last one I bought was a Maver Jurassic 2.6M one and it’s still going strong. It’s slim lightweight and never looked like breaking. I do carry a longer garbolino one but I couldn’t tell you which one cos I never use it except for on high banks.

TF_allyParticipantWhat have you done to the old one Matt, break it on some ice ,or was it a car door?
-
18/02/2010 at 11:07 pm #95063
TF_mjk380ally havent broken mine just around five years old they must have advanced. where did you get your tricast from? havent seen any tricast gear local
-
19/02/2010 at 8:12 am #95075
TF_allyParticipantMatt, every where is local with the internet. But landing net handles have not advanced much, if at all in 5 years.

19/02/2010 at 10:31 am #95090
firstpegParticipantthe new maver one looks really good~clap ~clap
-
19/02/2010 at 10:55 am #95094
TF_GaryMatt, you would not know mine was a Drennan because I do not use the third section, which is the one with the graphics on it!

TF_Chum MixerParticipantDaiwa Airity landing net handle for me, but at a cost of £80-90 squid its more than some people would pay for a margin pole ~think
-
19/02/2010 at 4:53 pm #95139
TF_AnthonywatersParticipantChum I hope the Airity net handles are much improved from their Tournament predecessor what a pile of dog shit they were !
-
19/02/2010 at 5:37 pm #95157
TF_mjk380the thing i like about the tricast is the fact it has a small end piece for when putting bigger fish into the keepnet
and chum b**ger paying that much for a landing net handle -
19/02/2010 at 6:38 pm #95168
TF_Chum MixerParticipantAnthony the Airity landing net handles are in different planets by comparison although I have never had the tourney one, its mega strong I have netted and lifted high doubles and its superb.
mjk380 – yes its a lot of money but then again when its the wife that’s buying it you just smile and say thank you
