TF_RyanHi, what do you think is the best line for pole, waggler and feeder fishing?, i want a line which is the stated diameter and breaking strain.
Thanks Ryan.

Nick DYep personal preference.
I use Daiwa Sensor for the feeder/waggler and Fox Micro Plus XT for pole rigs.

TF_DishyfishSilstar all the way for the pole!! Maxima for feeder. If we are talking commercial waggler fishing, maxima treated with a floating line spray. I have a Dave Harrell one about 10 years old now!! The can is rusted but still doing the business.

TF_Ryani see this silstar is quite popular, i was actually thinking of this line as i had heard it was good. Is it accuarate in bs/dia? what is it like with knot strengths, does have good abrasiveness etc.
Thanks Ryan

TF_Johnny MacI’ve never been interested in BS/Dia, and until I see a fish carrying a micrometer, I never will be 😉
I’ve used Silstar line for years, occasionally I will try other lines just to see how they compare, but I always go back to Silstar. The only thing I’ve found that comes close is Fox micro plus. -

TF_DishyfishI’m with Johnny Mac it is a great line and its stood the test of time. I sometimes use 0.12 straight through in the winter and never disapointed. Used 0.16 bagging down the edge again no problem. Used it since I can remember, and will carry on using it.. Get some tomorrow and never look back LOL..

TF_Fred DavisRyan i notice you said
“i want a line which is the stated diameter and breaking strain.”
I don’t beleive there is a line on the Uk market made for waggler and feeder fishing that fits that criteria as virtually all lines on the market are understated in strength, this is done to make them appear stronger than what they are,as for diameters you’l need to measure them to be accurate, pole lines you may be lucky to find one or two that are close but I doubt it.
find a line that you like and stick with it, learn what each breaking strain is capable of and change up and down the Breaking strains as required to meet your fishing requirements, that way you’l find out what you can and can’t do with each strain, chopping and changing brands is a sure way of never settling on any brand,
I use Ultima because I like it, other lads swear by their chosen brand, price wise obviously comes into it and budget lines Like sensor daiwa and ultima power will be ok for feeder and waggler work but you may want a higher quality line for pole work of which there are many on the market, have a look at them all and decide what you want you can test like for like on a simple spring balance to see what the different brands break at.
