and haven’t used it since.
the new one does look better than the old one though but i’d be tempted to put the money towards either a top end pole so you can hold it at 16m all day anyway.
or a gym membership~think -

TF_Stevie HThe only time I ever use a pole support is when fishing the pole feeder to get a better presentation.
Other than that, if you want to hit more bites, don’t use one……

TF_MarkTHave alook at the fox one there ok but imo they just seem to get in the way when netting fish so i tend not use mine now.

TF_craigmI’ve just sold my Colmic one which was supposed to be a very good one and cost £60 new, but it got in the way when netting fish and trying to put fish in the net using my landing net was impossible. I also agree that you miss more bites when using them as you are not as responsive or have as direct a contact with the pole.

TF_fred van den feederI use to have a preston but as i change box to a rive i now got a rive support.
I cant live without mine. Its superb when fishing in wind, in strong flowing rivers or when ever i want to keep the rig at same spot every time.
Its all down to how you use it. Keep the pole between your legs, both hands on the pole and just focus. When i used the preston one i change it up so that i got the support futher out from the box, just turned the arms from box to support around then i got them futher out. By doing that I could easy put fish in the net as well. I even use it to put my landingnethandle on when neting fish.

Thats all well and good, but you still need to have the ability to feed as and when required. When fishing the pole feeder or even a flat float on a river you can afford to have it between your legs and have 2 hands on the pole, but on a venue without flow I would personally have the pole over my legs with the underneath of my forearm supporting it and then striking by lifting my knee if I am feeding with a catapult at the same time..

Steve H, So would I, use for what it is, a support. To get better presentation when conditons not the best. if the conditions are good i wouldnt use it.Other than that, I think the preston one was ok. and now i think the rive is better as it is stronger and more stable.

TF_Stevie HWhen I need to use one, I also use the Rive as the stability is fantastic.

TF_Joe Carassi use one an awful lot for natural venues and find them invaluable!!! id never use one for carping mind. but for venues where u can let the fish ‘have’ the bait they are really important. esp skimmer fishing cos when u hold the pole still trying to keep the rig still u seem to let it go with the tow etc naturally whereas with a bar your forced to keep it nailed.
